You need to send a letter Paul. Start a paper trail. Do I send it to the dealer we got the car from or head office David?

You need to send a letter Paul. Start a paper trail. Do I send it to the dealer we got the car from or head office David? I would copy both in Paul. Just be polite and business like but firm. Stress how you have appreciated the quality and reliability of Toyota products over many years and how surprised and disappointed you are with this apparent fall in standards.

OK David will do, but I have just phoned em back and the sales bloke who was supposed to have phoned me back isn't in today so spoke to a lady who was more helpful and as said she will see the manager and phone me back with in the hour or if she hasn't i'm to phone back after three so this will be the last chance, she even asked for photos so sounds more promising???

Well just had a call back and have been told that she spoke to the general manager and they have the paint and body expert bloke paying a visit later this month so want me to send some piccys of the rust so they can look at it and was told not to worry as it will get sorted one way or another. I also asked why the other two blokes that i'd spoken to hadn't done this to which she said she'd look into. She also said that it's not good for them as a business to ignore their customers complaints so so far sound good :TU:

Looking at those again looks like the hinge pin holder is broke so will have to look at that later?

Good result, Paul. Just make sure you check the repair thoroughly when you collect.

Good result, Paul. Just make sure you check the repair thoroughly when you collect. Would echo Jims comment Paul. It is dead easy to make a cosmetically good job of the repair, but it is unlikely that a paint shop will replace any pre-paint protective coating ( phosphate? ) that Toyota applied originally, at least should have applied. Keep an eye on the repair over time and at any sign of bubbling, discolouration or flaking GO SEE THEM AGAIN!
An aquaintance of mine had a BMW that developed a knock at the back end that he couldn'y work out. It turned out that the welding on the rear suspension brackets, where they are fixed to the body, failed. We had quite a "discussion" about the repair technique to be used and how they would re-apply the pre-paint protection over the welded area. As the brackets are assembled to the body before a lot of other parts are added, it was necessary to use MIG welding for the repair. Goodness knows what this did to the paint etc on the rear of the ( double thickness ) panel on which the welding was carried out. From memory, he only kept the car a short while after the repair.
Your problem is not in this league, but it is not one where you are likely to end up with an "as new" result. Sorry, it's pretty unlikely that is what you wanted to hear.

Cheers Chris :TU: As the rust isn't really in any visible main parts of the body, so long as the repair stops the rust getting worse that's all I am worried about, obviously if it was in a more visible parts of the bodywork then I doubt we'd have bought the car to start with as you say you won't get a "as new result" but the two areas that are rusting do seem common on other Yaris's, so we will just have to wait and see now

Well it's been nearly a week and no contact from Toyota about this matter so just phoned em and it seems nowt has been done about it at all, and the woman I had been talking to who was saying everything will be ok and the repair will be done doesn't have any say whatsoever as she is in sales, so I have spent all that time talking and explaining to her for nothing Mrs P took it over to em last Thursday after work where the manager himself took photos and Mrs P was told that the piccys would be forwarded to the paint expert who was in Wolverhampton last week to see what he thinks?? and when he was in Solihull at that branch nobody showed him the piccys that I had took and sent them, so not happy now. I am awaiting a call back from the manager, again we will see!
