Mileage is very interesting. Apparently it is a European import so presumably Malta or RoI, if it is rhd. Could be worth a look.😊

Imported, very low milage (if import how do you verify?) Trying to sell before it has arrived, pictures not up to date (as he does not have the vehicle ) Not sure.

Did make contact with the dealer of the import car and asked a few questions, to change speedo to MPH its had a new face put on the gauge but trip still goes around in KPH 🤔. Poor spec compared with U.K. vehicles, no flaired arches, no roof rails, no rear tailgate spoiler, odd looking radio with an expander to get FM stations, biggest shocker rear drum brakes 😳 very 70’s 😉. Insurance more money ..only plus side was road tax is £270 and not £330. Did look at adding roof rails and rear spoiler but that on top of it being a 5k car with no history and no mileage verification....not worth it !

Are you looking at getting another Rav then David :TU: I wasn't - but I liked the look of the one Bob linked and showed my wife who was also interested ! My wife's CRV has moved to becoming our car and for the foreseeable future I think we will just share the one car. It's hardly moved in months anyway. So we would sell the CRV and buy another. We both like the 3 door RAV and in spite of them being old we may go for one and put some money in the bank for repairs!

Would it have to be an auto David? Yes, although we can both drive a manual we really prefer an auto.

This RAV4 is not the best example But I guess still rare, noticed mismatch of paint on the door, damaged back door and corroded alloy wheels...and not a colour to set your heart racing. Plus side ...low mileage for 18 years old and full service history . www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/202007151274482

The Toyota GB RAV4 brochure, Dated Jan 2002, gives all the UK RAV colour "names", at that time, as: Lagoon Blue (Metallic) (This is the dark blue) Astral Black Kielder Green (Metallic) Argenta (Metallic) (silver) Arctic White Magnum Gold (Metallic) *** Most likely the above vehicle is this Caldera Red (Metallic) Balearic Blue (Metallic) That vehicle would appear to be before 2002, so names/paints could have been slightly different. At year 2000, it would be very early in the 4.2 production run, I would think. Sorry, I don't have the actual 3 letter/digit paint codes for the above (Argenta was 1D4. I remember brand new vehicles came with a small can of touch up, for stone chips, which I thought was good). Possibly names (and colours) changed again @ 4.2 facelift.
EDIT for completeness:
Grade
| Bumper and Side Cladding Colour
| Applicable exterior Colours
| NV
| Grey (non-painted)
| All Colours
| GX
| Argenta (painted)
| Arctic White
| GX
| Silver/Grey (painted)
| All colours except Arctic White
| NRG
| Argenta (painted)
| Arctic White (not available on VX)
| NRG/VX
| Silver/Grey (painted)
| Caldera Red, Magnum Gold, Balearic Blue
| NRG/VX
| Same as exterior colour (painted)
| Argenta, Astral Black, Kielder Green, Lagoon Blue
|
Even though the above table is extracted from the brochure, I still wonder about its accuracy. For example, I assume you could get a Lagoon Blue (dark blue) GX, but I don't ever remember seeing a Lagoon Blue that didn't have matching colour bumpers and side cladding. The above suggests they would be silver/grey on a Lagoon GX and I didn't find anything to say certain colours were limited to certain grades. I stand to be corrected......
NRG & VX had wheel arch extensions, same colour as bumper and cladding. All had matching colour spare wheel covers except NV.

I also liked that colour and I don't remember ever seeing a number plate beginning with an "X" Mind you we had left the UK in 1991

And it's an early 4.2 so you need to watch out for the gearbox ECU problem. Agree gearbox ECU would always be on you mind every time you kicked it down 😉 I wouldn't be too paranoid about it, Bob. The problem doesn't occur until higher mileages (our VX's failed at something like 90K, IIRC) and some don't fail at all. For peace of mind you could always just send the ECU to Derby and get it done anyway. It has 12 months' warranty in any case.
The price on this one doesn't seem bad and if you're buying for cash, I'm sure you'll get some discount. I love the colour; I've always thought it was Cornflower, as well although my old catalogue from 2002 doesn't list it. I've always preferred the style of alloys on the early ones as opposed to the later design on the 4.2.5. The MoT history isn't too bad; the fails have all been on minor stuff although I woud look closely at the exhaust given it was an issue at the last but one test.
