Is that your XTR Bob? I think now Mrs P has seen that she does want the limo black and she has managed to find a mobile fitter that can come out Friday who says he has a choice of tints to choose from so i guess we will have to wait and see what she decides?

Yes that’s my one 😎 we have limo black tint on our wheelchair van side windows, we’ve had little trouble seeing out of it night or day 👍🏻

Well he came he saw and he tinted  Mrs P decided to go with the darker of the two tints he showed us earlier today, the lighter one was like Bobs tint but Mrs P wanted the darker one. So that's another job done on the Rav. I was going to wash it but we had to go out and the forecast is more rain on the way.

Mrs P is thinking of having the rear sides and back window tinted darker on the Rav, not sure if she wants the complete privacy tint or just to look darker. Any thoughts on having this done good or bad? I’m always in two minds about window tint. On light coloured cars like silver they look good. On black or dark cars they can make the car look like a van. Spot on Jamesy min….the XJ is black, sometimes purple when the sun is on it. The “Privacy Glass” at the rear is a total sore airse. On the few times folk have been in the back, they need to open the far king windows to admire the views of the Scotteesh scenery…! Bordering on opaquefulness. Really cannot see the bloody point…..must be a voyeur doggers’ nightmare….!

Well folks it just had to happen didn't it Mrs P went shopping the weekend parked up in Tescos car park, done her shop got back to the Rav and noticed a nice big dent right in the middle of the rear quarter panel that has just been resprayed We looked back through the dashcam footage and looks like she parked next to a Nissan Juke and it's the rear passenger door that looks like has done the damage, needless to say she is upset about it. On a better note the new front headlights are going to be fitted this week as the MOT is up next month so want them done for that. Will the beam have to be reset or will it be ok once fitted??

That really is tough luck Paul! I've no idea why it always seems to happen after you've just got the car "right" - but that's my experience. My daughter, a very good driver generally, borrowed my RAV when it was three weeks old to take her, then, two youngsters to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Everything went OK till she backed out of the parking slot and hooked the front nearside wing around a wooden post about 500mm high! I lived with the result for about a year before I found a dentless paint removal company ( ) who made a really good job of fixing it. With regard to the headlights, there should be no problem with adjustment when you fit them. Besides, I don't know any MOT tester who checks them these days.

Barstewards!😡😡 Bad luck, Paul. Will the panel pop out again? Perhaps a drop of hot water and a gentle push from the inside after removing the trim panel might do it. 👍😊

Thanks both :TU: Here is a piccy of the dent, as you can see the door that did the damage wasn't gently opened and rested against the Rav but has been hit with some force and has chipped the paint off. It wasn't a windy day so can't blame that It will probably push out Jim but it'll still need some work doing to it if Mrs P bothers again?

Paul, my 4.3 had some protection strips fitted along the doors to help avoid this sort of damage. They were a Toyota extra and were black and reasonably soft plastic. Don't know if they are still available but it would be an option.

I have a set of those protection strips for the 4.3 in their original box, unused...... I now have a complete set of refurbished wheels with a set of tyres that have only done about 4000 miles for my 4.3. Also, 2 steel spare wheels. Have to say, my least favourite feature of the Yaris Cross is the wheels. Much preferred the ones on the 4.3.

Have you actually sat in a Yaris Cross Chris? I was looking at one from the outside the other day and I have to say that space in the front seemed, shall we say, less than optimal for those gifted of stature.

Hi David - I traded the RAV in for one last Friday. You are right about it being more compact than the RAV but so long as I don't need 4 in the car for a long journey, it will work fine for me. I did cheat a bit, Anchorman let me drive his across the Snake Pass the week before and that convinced me it would be OK. They are very nimble with a wheel right at each corner and an incredible turning circle. Will I use all the bells and whistles? Maybe not, but the reversing camera and adaptive cruise control are brilliant. SHCM has one as well. I bought it at Fish Brothers in Swindon.
