You would need to go to a car/van wrapping company Paul. They cut from a downloaded pattern. I know that there are patterns available for the 4.3 but not sure about 4.2. That being said, the lamps are off the car so a competent wrapper should be able to do it without a pattern. Ask around but make sure they use the 3M Ventureshield material. Once wrapped you won’t notice the film. I recently wrapped the lenses on the SLK myself as they are particularly vulnerable to stone chips.

Ahhh so it's just the thin plastic film David used for wrapping, i thought they were an actual plastic lens cover. So i could do it meself if i get the film before fitting the new headlights?

Or see it another way Paul….it’s taken 15 years for them to discolour, so maybe don’t worry about it 😉

You would be surprised at the size of stones that have hit the front of my RAV and simply bounced off the film.

Yes, I'd have thought a fella of your capabilities would be able to do it without too many problems Paul. Watch a few videos of the process. Key is patience, plenty of soapy water and not being afraid to stretch the stuff. Still might be worth checking for wrap installers in your area though - it would be an easy job for them and I doubt they would even need the template as they could 'free cut' from a couple of offcuts.

Mrs P is thinking of having the rear sides and back window tinted darker on the Rav, not sure if she wants the complete privacy tint or just to look darker. Any thoughts on having this done good or bad?

Any thoughts on having this done good or bad? I’m always in two minds about window tint. On light coloured cars like silver they look good. On black or dark cars they can make the car look like a van.

What is Mrs Ps reasoning Paul? It was on the previous 3 door David which she liked but also for the privacy in the boot as everything is on display such as shopping which we had to leave in the boot when out Christmas shopping if you see what i mean? Plus when we had our grandson in the back the sun was shining right on him and got too warm but mainly would be for the privacy in the boot area.

In terms of leaving stuff 'on show', though my RAV came factory tinted, I always carry an old dust sheet to disguise anything that might be visible to anyone who gets up close enough to get their nose on the glass.

This is standard XTR tint, it’s not limo black as you can just see through it .

In certain parts of the world some scumbags have taken to breaking the small side windows at the rear of
vehicles so that they can tip the rear seats forward enough to see what is hidden in the "boot"
