As for electric motorcycle racing machines I see the I.O.M. TT is suspending its race for electric motorcycles for the next 2 years. The lap record for one of those bikes is 121.91mph (196.2km/h) with a time of 18 mins 34.172 seconds.
A couple of years ago I was talking to a neighbour who said his friend had had heart problems so the specialist had strongly advised him to take up cycling. After doing some tests the specialist said he would be re-tested in 6 months. After this 6 months the results weren't any different so the Dr. asked if he had bought a bike? The chap said yes he rode it at least 10 Kms every day and it had cost him NZ$4,000 for this top of the range bike. The Dr was a bit surprised then suddenly clicked and asked the chap "Is it an electric bike?" to which of course the answer was "Yes, why?".

Well, working week in an EV done. No issues, range anxiety, etc. Charged it up on Friday at work before going home for the weekend. I can see why people like them.
But, i3, no way. Terrible ride, I mean awful, loads of tyre noise and no room for my best pal. But worse than all this is the on-road size!! Until you drive one you don't realise how bullied you get on the road. Maybe folk think they best pull out in front of you cos your going to be conserving power and going slow!!
Mum's new car (an MG EV!!) arrives in jan and it'll be interesting to compare.

I have been in a Nissen leaf and found it a nice car, my friend who owns it says lives in London and very rarely needs a charging point due to low daily mileage so as he can recharge it at home at night, I think it is the way to go but battery range has to go up considerably to make them more widely practical, this would also take away some of the need for charging points as people will be able to do most of their charging at home.
I did see this which is a very nice small camper but it needs double the range before it is really viable.

I think it is the BMW i3 and if so, it is no better looking from the side than the rear. I was behind one on the Motorway a few days ago and thought it has got to be one of the ugliest motors on the road Interestingly the next day I saw a BMW i8 (which I have never heard of before) parked up and recharging and that was quite nice (but could have been nicer without the "EV" style styling themes BMW seem to have to add to the "i" series?)

Are you complaining about the 231 bhp mid-mounted petrol engine by any chance? Yes, its a PHEV ...

Crikkie - cheer up fella. Go to BMW and have a go in an i8. Its mega. The battery is used to add performance more than anything. It fills in the "lag" when you go hard off the line or through the midrange. Makes it awd at the same time too, which is good when you want to get on the throttle mid corner and punch out. Recharges as it drives too - although not very quickly to be fair. It's not an electric car, but has an electric motor and is all the better for it. The battery only range is probably just a tax dodge for company car users. But loads of manufacturers do that now. Huge discounts and massive depreciation can make it a good buy. The soft top version is right up my street. We got one for the weekend last summer. Easily the best BMW i've driven. Tbh as good as the i3 is bad.

Hi Sunday I watched Guy Martin vs the robot car, www.channel4.com/programmes/guy-martin-vs-the-robot-car it is a couple of years old but still quite interesting, one of the fun bits is when he puts his Volvo hot rod up against a tesla model S the clip is here (the actual drag race is in the second half of the clip), the tesla is certainly quick, but he didn't indicate how long the battery lasts in the tesla while in the silly warp speed mode.
