Had an invite to look at new Toyota models in Steven Eagell Colchester on Friday.
Including the new Rav4 !
Definatly won't be ordering one as way too expensive for my budget.
But... be great to see it for myself.
Personally I like it, all but those wheel arches 🤔
Update, just rang them to confirm they'll have one there to look at , maybe test drive. But.... no they can't source a new Rav4 in time for their promotion this weekend.
But you are welcome to order one from pictures and brochures.
I don't think so....

Well been for a nosey around the new rav today. Ill be honest it aint my cup of tea. And I so wanted to like it, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!
It was a bobby basic model (but still £30K) but the styling looks awful in the flesh and the interior is still very low rent.
Popped into LandRover too. That new Evoque...WOW!! Pricey, but WOW!!

I’m not even bothering to go and look. ......The car looks awful . A bit powerangers and way to much styled for the American market.
I too prefer the Mazda CX.....

I suspect they are an impressive car to drive and own.

My misses has the CX5. 2.2 SportNav in that fancy red colour. Its a great steer tbh. It did feel a bit sluggish at first but now its got a few miles under its belt and since a remap it flies along. Handles very well too. Best bit, the HUD - why doesn't every car have this? Worst, considering its size the interior is a bit smaller than I expected + the boot isn't big and is kinda awkward shaped.
We got it on the 40% down, remainder at 0% deal which is nice. Fair few quid off if you carwow too. At its current price point I think youd be hard pushed to pick a better alternative. She went out to get a Tiguan (think every woman likes them) came back with the Mazda. Think her words were something like; it's just better.

The Mazda 323GT I owned some years back was one of the best cars I ever had. 95,000 miles over 4 years and nothing went wrong apart from random failures of the central locking motors which the dealer said was a design fault so they would replace them free of charge for ss long as I owned the car. As the few failures happened within a few thousand miles of a scheduled service, it was never a problem. I'm not so sure about their recent designs though. I feel that such edgy design tends to date quickly; Lexus seems to be similar.
For what it's worth, I like the new RAV.

I like their edgy design and their soul red paintwork! The best thing about Mazdas though is that, so far, the petrol engines tend to be large and normally aspirated rather than the current trend by others for small capacity engines with a turbo.

Don't get me wrong, I like the design personally. I just don't think it will age well so therefore might have a detrimental effect on the cars' residuals. Yes, that deep met red reminds me of Rover's Nightfire - my favourite car colour ever!

Obviously only me been following the nightmare stories of Mazda Soul Red and Soul Red Crystal on Don's forum.......the earlier ones chipped badly if farted too close to and cannot be "readily matched" when minor accidents need spraying up. Apparently they THINK it has been cured.....pun intended.......would have a CX5 only for what seems to be wan hellya complex electricall/electronic car.......need to join secret organisation to work infotainment system tae.......

No problems with the paint but the infotainment system did crash once last year. It had an update by the dealer and everything has been fine since. Think the updated system is more or less standard now. Ours is a 2017 model, so nearly 2 years old!! Probably be kept until 3.

Kev the Soul Red paint is a topic heartedly discussed on the MX5 forum. It has a dreadful reputation for chipping heavily. Now from my experience with paints I can enlighten you why it chips so badly. The latest generation of laquers has zero oil or polymers. This creates a surface that has Extreme hardness and very high surface tension. It’s a little like an over fired piece of fine bone China. It’s so hard and stiff ( stop giggling at the back ) that when a stone strikes it chips like buggery. This is the price we pay for saving planet and in case our young start chewing our cars paintwork. Get used to it gentlemen as this will become the reality for every car built once all the manufacturers are forced to use these modern materials. Ventureshield sales are set to double me finks......

David you have hit the nail on the head. These small engines with high pressure turbos are bloody horrible. Fords Eco Boost engines at 1.0 and Peugeot’s small turboed engines are going pop all over the place. Generating high BHP from tiddly engines means things are wound right up. Fine for say 20 to 40K miles but risky after that. Bloody nasty horrible things to drive anyway. My mate Jim has a 1.0 16 plate Fiesta which has just $hit itself. The engine is/was rated at 130 BHP. It’s blown in such a bad way it needs a complete engine replacement and a new Turbo and inlet manifold. In other words it’s rubber ducked.

I think the infotainment system on lots of makes of cars are hyped up in the marketing and probably fail to deliver. Our CRV does what I need in terms of DAB, fuel computer, and USB connection to memory sticks but it has other features such as HDML input that I never use. The large screen sometimes goes blank and I think that's going to be a trip to the dealers but then it reboots itself and all is well! I think quite a few of the complex paint finishes present a challenge to repair but that Soul Red is a spectacularly great colour ! Ours is also a 2017 car and I have just booked it in for its 2nd year service next month. Under warranty until it is 3 so won't swap until then but I have a 5 year service plan so may keep for longer.

You're not still believing what you read on that forum are you??!! lol Saw a Veyron in London the other month, covered in stone chips it was, front, roof, around the wheel arches. Terrible. But it is only paint, I cant really get all that stressed about paint tbh. As long as there are no dents and it looks good after a proper wash and wax. The polishing brigade do get quite upset about swirl marks, stone chips, rain spots, etc - life's too short if you ask me.
