My mate Noddy who ran his own tyre business till he passed used to sell the old tyre carcasses to a recycler who in turn passed them on to a company who made the soft tarmac and granules used in kids playgrounds . They also use them in making resin used now for drives .. Thete are lots of uses for those old tyres we pay to have disposed of when buying new tyres . My understanding is recycling centres don’t accept them but I’ve never had a problem where we live . I know if you hire a skip your not supposed to put old tyres plasterboard or asbestos in them they go particularly mad over old tyres …. The farmers burn them which environmentally speaking is a complete no no . 🤙🤙

The farmers burn them which environmentally speaking is a complete no no . 🤙🤙 when we were in St Lucia in March, we noticed that they used old tyres to build retaining walls where banks had collapsed on the side of the road, the tyres were filled with soil, as the wall sloped back away from the road, there was pleanty of room to plant up all the tyres and it made quite a presentable display as well as being functional.
