Do you use it??
The little Yaris is on it's 2nd tank of super unleaded and I think it's driving better.
Always skeptical about these "super fuels" but the car feels more responsive now and the mpg has improved, up to 52.4 from 51.9.
Fair price difference though - albeit not as much as it once was.

Initial thoughts. Not sure 1% improvement is statistically significant. If you used Shell the additives may have had more of an effect than the octane level. I doubt your Yaris would need, or gain performance from, super unleaded. It won't harm the engine though and it's your money.

Maybe a little different in diesel, the 'super' one have more additives that supposedly maintain the engine better - i do not buy it generally, unless i fill up at Costco, as they only have the 'super' one, and it is cheaper than the normal forecourt one. No brainer in that case. No, i do not feel any difference in performance.

I always use the Shell super stuff but mainly for the detergents, etc that keep the engine clean more than any performance improvements. I started doing it when I ran diesels and have carried on since. Admittedly engines are more robust than in the past but I reckon that every little bit of care helps.👍

I've now stopped using 'posh' fuel and go for basic - preferably branded - E5 95 RON in the hybrid. That's what the handbook asks for; it's not a high revving, high performance engine - rather it is tuned for economy and acts as much as a generator as a motor (OK, maybe not quite as much but you can see what I mean).
As soon as E10 becomes available, I'll switch to that ...

Texaco regular diesel with a dose of Archoil AR 6900 at each fill for my RAV. Quieter engine and about 3% increased efficiency. No idea if it is cost effective but at 138K miles I figure it is doing no harm.

Good PETROL will make little difference…….good DIESEL mandatory imho. Like Davrav, I use AR6900, but on top of Super Diesel. Makes the Jag like a scalded cat. Nae shrockets in the poud as Charlie would say.

I used too…. Now I buy the additives which saves about 50% of buying expensive pump fuel. When we lived in Scotland I tried regular fuel and super fuel and simply got more miles per tank driving the same roads in the same way…. So I used super pump fuels.

We realised the other day; 1. Don't own a diesel car - horrible dirty things 2. Don't own a turbo'd car - too fast :F1: So super fuel is probably pointless, but mpg is now 52.4, so deffo better.

Just buy a quality Additive. Far cheaper and you know for sure it’s in there. As fuels get weaker it will be more important especially for the dirty diesels. Most especially important for the 4.3 series diesel cars 👍

Indeed ... since the beginning of this week "hybrids are us". My wife's dirty diesel Volvo has been replaced with a C-HR hybrid so we are now a two Toyota hybrid family - that's really sad at one level, but I do think that [Toyota self-charging] hybrids are the obvious choice for the 2020s decade ...

I see the plug in cars are here now but getting much criticism for the cost….. So I think your self charger is the smart option. Me I’m staying dirty diesel on the basis my cars worth a lot more to me than anyone else. Recycling centre runs plus winter duties only now 👍👍

So is this new petrol all you can get now at the forecourts, as i went out the other day With Mrs P in the Rav and thought it was driving a lot more quieter smoother and seemed a bit more quicker? Mrs P doesn't know what she is putting in the tank apart from it been unleaded and didn't know about the new E10 stuff and the last petrol receipt just says unleaded. So if it is the new stuff been used it does seem a lot better, well to me it does
