Ideally your daughter needs to at least sit in one and try it for visibility, pedal reach etc. That being said, the higher driving position gives a much better view of the road and the bonnet is relatively short.

Not sure whether I should start another thread on this but my daughter is only 5'1.. is the seat adjustment etc suitable for a petite driver ? Ah, the "short daught" problem ... I have one of those - I doubt that she'd make 5'0 with her heels on the floor, and the only car she will drive is a Fiat 500 (she's on her second). But, I am absolutely certain that she could drive my 4.5 (or my 4.4 or my 4.3 previously) since they have plenty of adjustment but she won't try! RAVs are Japanese cars and there are plenty of shorter Japanese folk for Toyota to cater for so they tend to be well suited to the shorter driver. That said, the only way to be certain is to get her to try one ... Auto's are, of course, easier to manage for shorter folk ... getting the clutch all the way to the floor in any car can be a stretch. Seriously though, there's quite a difference between looking for a RAV4 as a second car for you, and looking for a car suitable for a "short daught" to drive ...

True but she loves the rav4 and so do I..good point about the auto though..that may be the game changer in finding one..

Nice looking 3 door manual HERE but high miles and from a dealer a few of us on here have bought from, with 12 months warranty.

Well looked after auto HERE might be worth keeping an eye on. Could be but the £3500 autobox refurb would worry me. Presumably the dreaded g/box ECU gremlin hit and the box was allowed to lunch itself. In that case, everything that I've read/heard about it says that the only solution is a new box because of the damage that occurs. Repair or refurb isn't an option.

Looks a great one but already crept up to £3000 and its on an automatic bod so I think whoever that is wants it bad and with another day to go it will go a lot higher ..so back to looking on all the usual car selling sites ! Did see this old one linkIs this model a lot worse than the newer model ?

You could end up spending huge money on it as well.....

Corrosion has been mentioned on previous mot tests and a more recent one ..."covered in thick under seal " so keep well away, as it’s only covering up the rust !

Thing is though Bob all the earlier cars are going to have issues of one sort or another ? Fair play for doing the research and spotting it but if it wasn’t rust it would be something or other else... Its getting harder finding late cars in what I call proper condition... I think it’s because so many who buy on these PCP and other finance schemes were they never own the cars don’t give a monkeys about looking after them.

I think our buyer is going to have to be very patient in finding a decent 3 door auto or up his budget or fall lucky on one, otherwise as you say Charlie it could cost a lot more in the long run if the wrong one is bought. Even the very early good conditioned 3 doors are fetching good money now, manual or auto.
