I would be in raising hell....... Not sure if it would pass the MOT it’d already passed.. Two rear wipers, that’s posh that is. Not only do I intensely mistrust garages I mistrust the clowns that work in them and the main dealers are worse. I know some of the stories are subject to exaggeration but I’ve heard way to many ones with good genuine grounds and your one David is another. It’s nothing short of deception and I would be taking them to task big style. Yes there is usually another side to the story but I don't need to exaggerate - there is a lot more to my tale but I can't bear to think about it! I may take it up with one of the directors I know but I will probably just move on. Literally 5 minutes before I encountered the receptionist I had been thinking about buying a new Honda - well they can stick that sale somewhere dark and dank ! Aw cmon David you’ve got to tell us 😜😜😜😜 If you do il give you the keys to BKs piggy bank then you can retire to the Seychells .....

Two of my children are reasonably local but one of my daughters, who gave birth to twin girls prematurely in the epidemic, live in Yorkshire so that would be the only possible move. Sorry that I seem to be taking over the post on brakes! (My oldest son that you have "spoken" with is back in Japan.)

Yorkshire is OK David, Ash and I both emigrated here from Birmingham, in my case 50 years ago. My daughter who lives near Wantage still thinks of it as home and would give me some pain if I abandon "her" base here - not that I'm likely to!

Moderation wrecked our previous abode and I'd be very sad if we ever got near that state here - not that it's likely to :gathering:

I hope to move there one day but have ties in the Midlands at present. I would be happy somewhere rural with sheep rather than people for neighbours!

Exactly the same as me David! ....and houses are much cheaper than the Midlands.

We have sheep for neighbors and surrounded by fields and still live in the midlands...... Dont underestimate the huge change when moving a long way. We did when we went to Scotland and it cost us dearly... Just a thought 👍

I don't put too much information on the internet but I have lived in other counties over the years but have settled in our current house for a very long time. It's not as rural a location as you but it isn't urban either. A few hundred yards up the road is pretty rural. It's a pleasant place to live and we are lucky to be here. However we both would be up for moving somewhere more remote.

However we both would be up for moving somewhere more remote. I understand David really I do..... Our last house was set in what I would call semi rural though most would have judged it to be rural. There were other houses down our lane and we could for instance hear car doors closing in the morning as folk left for work. Where we are now is properly in the sticks. We’re right at the highest point between Clifton Upon Teme and Upper Sapey. We look out of our front window right across the Teme Valley and can just about see the clock tower at Abberly. It’s idyllic and we love and cherish it but like anywhere it has its downsides . The weather when it’s good is fantastic being so high up it gets very hot but seldom humid. On a windy day or wind with heavy rain............ Well errrr it’s quite something else. As you will recall I’ve gone through this place like an OCD lunatic which is probably what I am and stripped the roofs and relaid them to an exceptional standards yet still it’s worrying. Is there the perfect house ? Well no I don’t think there is.... No matter where we choose to live there will be something that..... Well let’s say niggles. We found living 360 miles north of normality for want of a better word tough. I was so used to having my family and mates nearby and of course I missed work.... Yorkshire is wonderful . Love it I really do but well I’m not sure we will move very far next time 👍👍 Your a very astute chap so you will know I’m merely sharing my experiences not trying to influence yours with which I wish you every success and happiness when the time is right and you up sticks.

Just a sad thought but when you get as old as me you might like to consider how far away from the nearest Doctors and decent sized Hospital you are. How long would it take for an Ambulance to find and then gain access to your property? Finally how easy are the Doctors and Hospital to get too if for some reason you have to use Public Transport.

Or how far the nearest garage is that will fit your rear brakes at a reasonable cost......

No public transport out here to worry about 👍👍👍👍 Same here really - an occasional bus but I hope never to use one. I have driven a car since I was 16 and owned one, or more, since I was 17. If I outlive my ability to drive I hope my younger wife will take over. Otherwise it will be my children or taxis. I avoid doctors and hospitals as much as I can but at some point like everyone else my time will be up. My dad took all those things into account but the ambulance couldn't get to him when he needed it due I believe to the Queen visiting nearby. Anyway I am not moving for a while.

Aw mate that’s robbery. I pay £40 for an MOT and do the servicing myself. I get the booked stamped ..... A standard or intermittent service is little more than an oil and filter change. I know a fitter who works at a main dealers in Worcester who tells me they often don’t even change the filters if the cars haven’t done full mileage between services which have to be annual as you know irrespective of mileage. Some may think it’s wrong how I’m doing it. But be assured anything I do is done properly using genuine parts and gets checked by a top tech...... Dealerships are mongrels plain and simple . Yes. They were incompetent too or underhand- phoned me and said there was a problem with a wiper blade and would I like them to fit a new one. I said I would normally do it but I suppose it would need to be done to pass the MOT. He wasn't sure !! But would I like the other front one done at the same time? I agreed. Came off the phone and immediately checked the MOT status online - it had passed earlier! Paying the bill and discovered it was actually the rear wiper. Not good - and that wasn't why I fell out with them! Don't these garages realise that this kind of thing makes them £10 or £20 extra in parts but costs them thousands in good will! I bet you will not buy another car from them? The place I go to to get my Campervan MOTed charges just a set £40 for the MOT - and last time, the van needed a side marker bulb and a wiper blade for the MOT... they checked this and did it before the MOT was carried out so it passed first time and no advisories, and charged me about £3 for the parts AND labour time.
