Still Driving my 64 Plate 2Ltr Diesel with 56K Miles. Still thoroughly enjoy driving a Manual car and just overall a good product. Has only required usual serviceable consumables Brake Discs, Pads, Tyres etc in the 8 yrs I’ve owned it. I joined this forum when I first got my previous RAV4 to the one I have now. Will be hanging onto it as long as I can.

Yes now on my 4th Rav mk1 mk2 Mk3 and now mk4 still have my Mk 3 17yrs of virtually trouble free motoring, and mk4 too techy for me but a lovely car, if I had money 💰 I might go for a Lexus but will keep my mk3 Rav as well👍

Both were excellent cars for their period even if they are a little outdated now . I would say the Hybrid and on cars are more techy though .. But then all the late cars from all brands are far more complex by way of the electric generation. 🤙🤙

If it wasn’t for the towing or space in the RAV4 we wouldn’t still have it. Nearly all the miles which aren’t that many get done in the wee IQ…. Yaris cross is nice buy I’m not sure about the looks. Normal Yaris to me is a cracking looking car though. As the years pass I get less interested in cars. I still love cars but I’m not keen partially because they’re getting to complex with all this eclectrickery ..

Well, lo and behold, the little Mk2 sailed through its Spanish MOT today!!! I was expecting maybe a suspension issue or possibly emissions but joy on joys we are good for another year. In comparison, the little Ignis went to the garage with what appeared to be a failing gearbox or clutch. It was revving and dying and wouldn't climb a hill. And the result, the gearbox oil was a "little" low and it took them 9 days to find that out. Joy and despair in one day. Off to the bar!!

I do not actually mean too much technology, I am 73 now and I am ashamed to say finding it very difficult to work things out on a day to day basis, I find the settings on the info, and audio very complicated and even the stalk controls on the steering column confusing, cruise control etc,tbh it's all a bit much for me I had a very basic Peugeot as a courtesy car one clock a few switches and it suited me fine 🙂 Stew

There's a start/stop button, a forwards / backwards selector, a pedal for go and a pedal for stop and a pointing wheel! And a gazillion customisation options that folk get really, really worked-up about but I simply ignore and leave on factory default settings! I'm hoping that within the next ten to fifteen years we'll get to proper autonomous driving so that I don't have to bother about that bit either!

For the most part a car to me is a tool for getting me, any passengers and or cargo from A to B. As with any tool, if it is not intuitive and ergonomic to use it is less useful. I do not want or need to be wasting time with multitudes of settings hidden behind opaque menus.

There are various screens I’ve never used on my car. I use the radio screen and the sat nav none of the others in the menu are any use to me so I never look at them. Switchgear I’m ok with 99% of the time. I’d owned my car for 7 or so years before I realised it had reverse sensors. I must of touched the button which activated them when cleaning probably. I thought because the car has a reverse camera the sensors in the bumper were dummies or not connected. The beauty of our wee IQ is there’s no kit on it. It’s very basic with sparse equipment which suits me. Only problem is if the radio needs tuning cos I have to get the gaffer to sort that out.l 👍👍
