A lad at work got one 6 months old a year ago. I asked him what it was like and he said he didn’t know but he could tell me what every other model in the courtesy car pool was like. I thought he was exaggerating about the size of the new defender but sure enough, it is ginormous. I wish I’d photographed it now but he’ll have it again soon. Daughter is on her second one and both have been outstanding. Only visit the new one has had to the garage was when someone banged it in a car park and buggered off without leaving details. I’ve driven both of them and really liked them. Interiors are fabulous and that’s one area Japanese cars fail miserably.

Sorry I thought this thread was about Evoques .....

Many Evoques have balancer shaft recall problems. Major engine out/strip and costed at 20 hours plus.

To be fair the two Evoques my daughter has had were company cars which is probably the best way to drive one. I do like them though they go very well have great interiors and very good on fuel. Not sure I’d want to own one mind.
Saw one of the new Defenders in Hereford a few weeks back. Hell its a big car with quite some road presence. It was a fully loaded one with those daft window storage boxes. Back lights from a toy shop...

I love the whole JLR range but they really haven’t got the quality right. Our car park is half full of Jags and I’ve not heard a wrong word about them.

Car works fine.
It's just head v heart dilemma to be honest.
Head says don't pump (a fair chunk of) money into a 7 year old car heart says what will replace it once its gone.
Friend of mine was round in his new Tiguan R Line yesterday. You can keep that, no match for the old Evoque to either a) be in b) to look at or c) to drive. And I bet it was £££pricey!!
Don't want a defender, old or new. So don't really care if they work or not.

Got it from classic additions - after masses of research tbh. I don't want any scratches either.
It's from their ultimate outdoor collection. Size S1. Cost £209 delivered. Some good case studies on their website.
Did umm and ahh about getting one of their tailormade covers but it's over double the price and the S1 fits the mazda more or less perfectly.
3 straps hold it in place.
Made from 3 layers. Soft inner layer to protect the paint and waterproof outer to keep it dry. Fully breathable so in theory you can put it on wet car but i'm not sure anyone would do that.
It was pouring here this morning and when it stopped the cover was bone dry. It's kinda like a wetsuit outer skin so the water just beads off.
Being so close to the coast, like 30/40m when the tide is in, it's a harsh environment. Add the scottish winters and I had to try something.
Must get the 2nd garage done next year.

Not everyday you see an Evoque doing laps of Donnington!!
Back from when we could get out and do what we enjoyed doing;
(Speed change @ 4.30 + it gets a bit noisier, careful if you've got headphones on)
