Last January the warning "Check Brake System" "Check ABS System" and "Check VSC System" came up! I took it into our local garage and when they checked it out they couldn't find anything wrong!!!! and said perhaps its the cold weather. Anyway, they must have reset the system bacause after that it was OK. Now, last month the warning came back on just as the MOT was due!!! so took it back into the garage and whatever they did cost my 50 euro's (we live in France) passed it's MOT and has been fine until last week when the warning came back on. It doesn't come on every time I go out, it's quite random and of-course the brakes are good. Has anybody had the same problem?

Almost certainly the brake light switch which sits above the brake pedal. Very common and easy to fix.
It’s always nice to say hi in first posts ?

I have had a problem recently that sometimes the break pedal wasn't returning quite enough and the break light switch was being activated when parked, this was a real pain as the brake lights work without the ignition and the battery goes flat. Yesterday I had the ABS and break warning light come on, breaks worked fine and the error cleared its self a few miles later. This morning I had a look and my wifes push pull hand control bracket had moved which was stopping the brake pedal returning fully, readjusted and hopefully the problem has gone away. Anyway the main reason I was asking is that for a long time now I have has occasional problems with the ABS comming on prematurely (i did post somthing a while back) often when light breaking while cornering at slowish speeds, now i cannot imagine the break light switch would have anything to do with this problem but thought I would ask. Dave

Dave It’s on the circuit. It’s a common problem seen often. There are I believe 2 switch on the 4.3 brake pedal, when VSC is fitted. One is the usual switch for stop lamps. The other is a "brake demand" switch (for want of a better name).
