I think those go by the name of "Lexus Lights", a style very popular on Citroen Saxos and old-model Corsas The actual light clusters are standard Mazda. But the surrounds may not be .. I just posted a picture on the MX forum to ask 👍

I have seen a 2012 one in red and yours looks much better! David this car is not typical of an 11 year old car with 56.000 miles. The body is just so straight and importantly original. By that I mean it’s never had any repairs or paint. When I polished it I checked every panel methodically with my PTG so I know for sure it’s never seen paint.... There is one minor paint touch up on the rear offside wing which is practically invisible. To paint the panel and loose the originality would be a crime. It’s also rust free which is rare on these cars as you know. The problem is it’s just another drive ornament.... Not that it bothers me 👍👍 thanks for for your kind comments...

Look like stock lights to me. They got changed on the mk3.5, less lexusish. I quite like them tbh.
Drive ornament/garage queen - every petrolhead needs at least 1.

You got yourself a good one and have made it even better! I am still looking at AutoTrader but dithering! I like most cars but don't want to waste money. I keep coming back to an MX5 so that's probably what I will end up with. Some of them seem to sell really quickly and others stick.

The owners club is littered with threads about guys travelling long distances only to find junk when they get there.... Those will I think be the ones that stick. But I think you are looking at much newer cars than my one.

Having asked on the owners club it seems all is standard and original. The clusters certainly are and it seems so are the surrounds. I now have two drive ornaments.........

I've looked at a few Mk1s as a project this year, but every single one has way to much rust. Less of a project, more of restoration.

I played safe in the end and got rid of the Beemer. Sod's Law says that the next owner will get years of trouble-free motoring. Grrrrr
