Hi I did a service on the car last month, but didnt get around to changing the spark plugs as i didnt have a small plug socket.
I had a go today but chickend out as I tried two and they both seemed very tight, once they moved they loosened a little then after a few turns tightened up again, is this normal? It is years since i changed plugs but the last ones i did, i could turn easily after I slackened them a bit. dave

Give 'em a soak in a penetrant and then a gentle tweek forward a bit before trying the anti-clockwise turn Dave.

If I recall correctly, the torque is a mere 15lbft, Dave, and if ye need a wee mini torque wrench over just shout. Davrav correct......virtually PUDDLE in some good release oil to spark plug recesses and work both ways until free.

The Rav4 plugs can be very tight as the are 60k between servicing, when I done them on my car I was worried they would snap ..I used a deep socket on a wobble drive extension and they all came out ok.
