Hi I have a small problem with the abs the front right activates unexpectedly when cold, my mechanic recons it is to do with the knackered front shocks (which they are, being charged tomorrow), but i have the CT (french MOT) on Friday and thought if it didn't solve the problem maybe I could disable the abs for the test and sort it out at my leisure afterwards.

I would be very surprised if it were possible for anyone to do this other than maybe a Dealer - and I have no doubt they would flatly refuse to do so even if they were able.
Would the vehicle pass the test without ABS working if it were originally equipped though? (just wondering if you are going down a dead end looking at this?)

I doubt you could disable the ABS without a light showing on the dash....l

Cars with ABS have a ring like this on each hub of the vehicle.... ...and corrosion builds up on the suspension parts around them and wears the castle parts away or metal fragments have built up on the magnetic ABS sensor.
