Hi All, long time lurker resurfacing with a request for some advice if I may?
My vehicle usage is not conducive to having a diesel DPF in that I do a lot of shorter journey with the occasional long run. For me the Rav does however tick all other boxes with 4x4, towing, MPG, boot space, SUV etc. My current 2007 XT4 Rav doesn't have a dpf so it doesn't suffer, however I'm at a crossroads in terms of investing in bigger maintenance/mods in my current one or trading to a newer vehicle which would most likely have to be petrol vehicle for the aforementioned reasons.
I have however come across a 2010/60 plate 2.2 D-4D XT-R and research suggests this also doesn't have a DPF.
Can anyone confirm this or advise which models to target/avoid for DPFs? If it doesn't have a DPF would it also be late enough to avoid the headgasket/coolant issues of the earlier D4Ds?

The 2010/10 D-4D 150 XT-R I had did not have a DPF. That vintage of UK spec you quote should not have a DPF. The coolant antifreeze type was changed on that vintage with respect to head gasket failures. When you have a VIN for a particular vehicle (without actually being able to physically look) a search around the parts catalogue here www.japan-parts.eu/#might with enough detective work confirm whether that particular vehicle was intended to have a DPF or not.

Great, thank you for that info. There was a guide someone else here did in an old topic that was started recently about the engines which suggests any vehicle branded D4d avoids the DPF and 5th injector - these appear on the D-CATS?
The underlying suggestion seems to be that a D4D upto 2012, as long as it is not branded D-CAT (and not a T-180) would not have a DPF.
Am i right in thinking the 5th injector and DPF would be clearly visible on the downpipe in the engine bay and somewhere between down pipe and cat underneath?

I had a 59 plate 150 and that one did not have s DPF. Looking over the back of the engine you should not see any wires going to the the manifold.
