Hi I am wanting to remove the alterntor my Rav 4:3 just wondering what kind of a job it is to do thanks.

It’s a nightmare on the jet engined model. I jest, given you didn’t say. I take it it’s right down the back of a Diesel engine. There is a lot more room down the back of a 4.3 and it might come down the way. The last one I did was on a 4.2 and the only way was up as Yaz would say. That required quite a bit of undressing ancillary bits off up top and lifting it up on a rope (not kidding). It will come out if you are resourceful enough.

Think you go in via the offside wheel, remove the plastic panel & it's there in front of you, just take a picture of the belt before you remove it, you can leave it in place but just in case it comes off.

Thanks that sounds better than what I was reading they was on about removing the drive shaft and it is a diesel cheers :TU:

More I think about it I had to move the expansion tank to the side & bring the alternator up that way, best if you have a 3rd hand
