Ok so Mrs P will be using the Rav more now over these severe winter months we are expecting, so the Hybrid Yaris will be tucked away for a while in the garage, so does anyone know how the Hybrid battery will fare while not in use for a period of time or will it be best to use it occasionally?

Trickle charger on the 12V battery and run the engine for 20-30mins once a month should be sufficient I would have thought. Just make sure everything electrical is switched off. Does it have keyless go? If so, probably best to deactivate that. Where's SHCM? He'll know best.

For the garage in and out, would it just operate 100% off the battery? no need to start the engine? I'd get a small Smart Charger like the CTEK or Victron for safe maintenance charging(if you get a Victron with Bluetooth, you could use an App on your Smartphone to monitor the charging and violtage remotely)

My understanding of hybrid cars is they need to be used to keep the battery pack charged and the small 12v battery is just big enough to do it’s job in daily use but with go flat if not used or trickle charged.

As all have said above. Just treat it like any other vehicle and keep the "normal" 12V battery topped up, otherwise it will not "start" (no, before you ask, it will not "start" off the hybrid battery or anything like that).
Don't fuss over the hybrid battery. There's bog all you can do about it anyway. It comes with a very long warranty.
Make of this what you will, true or BS, but the Toyota service person I trusted the most, told me that so long as the battery had the "hybrid health check" every year, Toyota would mostly likely replace it FOC regardless of age, if it became a problem. The health check is probably no more than reading diagnostic info out of the battery pack.
As for backing it out of the garage, I've found that with an engine below normal operating temperature, the Mr T. RAV hybrid system will fire the engine up a couple seconds after starting to move, regardless.

I have a cheap Aldi trickle charger if that would be any good?

The hybrid battery pack was my concern Bob as that is charged when the car is been driven so with little or no use over winter didn't know if it would get damaged if drained flat?

Thanks Andy :TU: I know the pack comes with a long warranty and we have took out the service deal with Toyota so we do get the health check each year on the battery but after the fuss we are having with the rust warranty just makes me wonder if they will keep to the promises they made when we bought the car?? So even if the hybrid battery goes completely flat and the normal 12v battery is charged and the car used the hybrid battery will begin to charge again??
