Hi, this my first time posting at this forum.
As the title says I have a rather weird problem with the battery, or I assume its the battery. Sometimes when I try starting the car the dashlights are on for a second or two, then they shut of and I have no power. This has happend three times as of writing this. The weird thing is that I messured the battery with a multimeter and I got 3-4 volts. after some time has passed I hear a few clicks, so I checked the battery again, but this time I got 12,4 volts.
This started happening after the installation of a subwoofer, however the car has started just fine multiple times with the subwoofer connected.
I checked all of the fuses and they are fine. Could it be the battery that is the problem?

I'd check the earth connections from battery to engine and to bodywork. What age is your car?

I'd check the earth connections from battery to engine and to bodywork. What age is your car? It's a 2003 model diesel, I don't belive that the battery has been changed. I did however remove the battery and sanded the two poles as well as the cables. The car does however usually start fine. The times the power has cutoff while starting the subwoofer has been connected, but the amplifer doesn't start until the dab player has started

You can get a little volt meter that plugs in the cigarette lighter socket. Then you’ll get the charging/running voltage that should be in the 14.4 range. I had loads of weird electrical issues, blowing headlights steering funny etc and it was the alternator kicking out 18+ volts!!
