My first (hope not so stupid) question about my car.
I noticed a ??socket?? closed to Aux port. What is that?
Thank you all, Fabiano

It's just another aux in alternative to the older jack type hole next to it.
When I connect my phone using this, the greyed out option for this on my cars stereo becomes active and I can play music.
Not really sure why these are there, as most people(well, me for one) use Bluetooth.

If you use the correct USB cable, it will also charge your phone, mine does.

Hmmmmm..... Doesn't look like Toyota USB & analogue aux socket to me.
USB socket or fixing where the rubber protection cover/flap on the analogue only socket used to attach? You decide............

Mine has the rubber flap cover and as said before, mine charges and play audio from my phone through the speakers.

It does look like where the “hinge” of the cover flap pushes in

If it's not a active working usb socket, it must be a dummy, just like a blanking plate when you can't afford all the bells and whistles in your car.

Well! those Toyota people must be really clever. I wish I wasn't so really, really stupid. Hey ho. Here's an analogue only aux socket that came out of an urban cruiser, when I transplanted a Toyota satnav and combined toyota usb/analogue aux socket into it. Apart from the word "AUX" being at a 90 degree orientation, (probably because in the UC, the socket is at 90 degrees to the RAV socket orientation) it does of course look absolutely nothing like the RAV one. .....and yeah, when I unclip the front and take the rubber flap out, there is that plastic tag, that not only acts as the flap hinge, but also doubles up as a dummy USB (or other) socket. How stunningly smart. How wonderful it must be to be able to come up with such ideas. Sigh, if only I were that ingenious............ IMG_20181001_205311 by sh cm, on Flickr IMG_20181001_205636 by sh cm, on Flickr IMG_20181001_205509 by sh cm, on Flickr IMG_20181001_205722 by sh cm, on Flickr

Listen to shcm, it IS where the rubber flap attaches.

Don’t beat yerself up son you can always come to me for a bit of technical advice..... Well, my mistake of not spotting it was a dummy socket is almost inexcusable, but thanks, it's good to know there are people around with your forgiveness and electronic prowess to fall back on. ..and remember, anytime you want building advice...........don't bother me, ask Kev.
