Have a 2013 RAV4. Should I be concerned or what should I do? As I was shifting from park to drive I noticed that a penny was sitting on top of the soft plastic that the gearshift itself goes into and that as i put it in drive (and the plastic moves with it ) - it disappeared under the hard plastic of the center console area.
Car has been driving fine. Just concerned if this Penny can somehow slipped down into the innards of the transmission or something and mess things up.? Just continue to drive as is? Or somehow pull up that larger assembly that houses the two drink cup holders the gearshift knob etc. just continue to drive as is? Your penny cannot get into the innards of the transmission, it will likely just drop into a void .....
But can’t you get it out ? I mean it’s a whole penny !!!

bm, just for a fuller picture, the gearbox or transmission as our North Atlantic cousins call it is not below the centre console, all that is under there are cables going to the actual gearbox/transmission so no harm will be done, although a poor Yorkshire family will be glad if you do find it & send it over, it will feed them for a week.
