An annoying beep has just started in the RAV. It appears to be coming for the centre dash area, and is intermittent, sometimes around 10 seconds apart and sometimes more. I have tried switching everything off, but the bar-steward is still there, and only when the engine is running. Any thoughts!!!!!

Probably not related but I had an annoying beep one day from my super fast Subaru. It turned out to be because I had put my laptop on the passenger seat and the weight caused the car to believe a passenger was being carried without wearing a seatbelt!

So Big K, is there any other indication of the above, as no lights showing, and no lap top on the seat next door!!

At the risk of being blunt, a bit more detail would help.
e.g Is it a single beep? Is it a series of repetitive pulses? Is it a long beep? Is it like the lights on warning buzzer? As much info as possible please.
There really should be some indication on the dash like warning light or display message. unless something is shorting or failing without fault detection in ECU(s) being triggered - which is unusual.
VSC will often only briefly flash the warning light, if it's not a long event. It would be easy to miss.
Is this a vehicle with "keyless entry"? i.e. one where with the key on you, you touch the handle to gain entry. Might be useful to change your model spec display from "The best", then I'd know whether it was keyless or not. Different people have different ideas about "the best". I suspect it is keyless???
So, is/are the beep(s) similar to the one you get, if you take the keyless key out of the car with the engine running? (although you should be getting a display message). Have you had a low key battery warning at any point? Is the key in your pocket, and the lock button getting pushed (I've had that happen once or twice) in your pocket while driving? The car will have detected the key in the vehicle in that situation and complain.

It is a single beep and intermittent time between the beeps. No lights or indications showing. Baffled!

The answer is no, it didn't beep before the battery was changed, but as a development today my wife took the car to Brighton, and not a beep was heard. Tomorrow we head for Spain in the RAV, so hope it doesn't start again!

Sorry, I don’t always get chance to look in and then I sometimes run out of time if I’m between trains.
I doubt it’s anything sinister otherwise the dash would be lit up like a Christmas tree. One thing that has beeped on mine over the last few days is the low temp warning. It does so on a RAV if the temp drops to below 3 or 4 degrees with very little else to say why. On the 2009 on models, you get a written warning in a panel as well. However, were out of those chills for the next few days so that might explain it. The later models with the touch and go have subtle bleep warning for speed cameras that even activate if the satnav is off. That took me a while to figure why it always bleeped in the same place.
