Doesn't do it for me - appears to be an amalgam of various styling features of SUVs from a variety of manufacturers. No individual itentity.

I like the sharper more defined lines and edges over the current RAV4. Makes it look more 'purposeful' Full Glass roof panel? I like that Sliding large glass roof as well. I wonder how much much of that will be on the UK RAV4? I had the full glass panel on my 2010 Qashqai and really liked it. Was very surprised the 4.4 didn't have anything like it on launch From the A Pillars forward, if I had to guess the badge, I would have put a blue oval on the grill. Looking back from the rear doors, I would have probably guessed Nissan. It looks nice (though the wheel arches are wrong and I predict they will get adapted with the first set of changes that will happen in the models lifecycle) but it is certainly not a car that shouts out 'I'm a Toyota' - Without the badging, how many people would know?

I quite like it..... Enough to buy one Well not unless they produce a diesel and we know that isn’t going to happen... Off topic for a wee second. Both JLR and Nissan have announced substantial job losses due to the dirty diesel situation we now have due to media driven hype and of course some manufacturers saying they will cease production of diesels soon. So I like the new car but will not be buying one.

The boffins reckon a Euro VI diesel is cleaner than petrol.

If Darth Vader starts his own company, his Storm Trooper sales force would get these as company cars. Bear in mind Auld Darth wears a Ford Ka Mk1 on his heid........ Cannae comment until seen in the flesh personally.

The boffins reckon a Euro VI diesel is cleaner than petrol. So, does that mean all the boffins drive diesels?

The boffins reckon a Euro VI diesel is cleaner than petrol. I heard a radio article last week on exactly that topic. End result was that diesels are still better than petrol cars. Politics and media equals smoke mirrors and bull s hit.....

If I am reading the info right, IF they put a diesel in the new model, it would be a 2WD model anyway as the rear wheels are - like so many new 4WD vehicle coming out - driven by Electric Motors. No Propshafts or Mechanical interface, just a pair of auxilary motors seems to be the way nowadays.

For us 4WD or AWD call it what you like is essential and we would have been well and truly stranded this last winter without it. I’m not into Hybrid simply cos I don’t understand it and anyway I like diesels.

I believe we've seen reliable reports that Toyota are going to cease production of diesel powered passenger vehicles (for sale in Europe at least) by the end of this year (2018) - so I'd be very surprised to see a diesel version of the 4.5 offered. Even now, the only diesel available on a new 4.4 is, as Hoovie says, a FWD Manual which delivers better economy than the hybrid and is cleaner than the hybrid in an extra urban context (while the hybrid wins hands down around town). But we still have the ever dependable 2.0 VVTi petrol AWD Auto available today and I wouldn't be at all surprised to find a descendant of that engine and transmission available in Europe. What is perhaps a more interesting question is whether we will see the 2.5L FWD Auto that is offered in the US available over here. We can only wait and see ...
