For those of you who have a desiel Auto, when (if at all) do you press the Sport button and use it ?

The 4.4 has three modes: Eco, Normal and Sport. If you ignore the first six months when I just had to play with all the modes, I never, ever use Eco and only very occasionally use Sport - if I'm behind something slow and want to be able to overtake quickly as and when the opportunity arises. I could easily live without it altogether though it would be better if the button was a little more readily accessible.

Not quite the same but my Lexus I just leave in (PWR) power mode ...just never know when you need it 😉

If I put the wee IQ in "S" it flies.... Trouble is it then tends to burn a little fuel...

Not much mind cos it runs on fumes. Did I ever mention that ? The manual one has no sport setting so cannot be in any other mode than fume burning which is what it does. Did I ever mention that ?

I have an economy button on the CRV - I tried it for a couple of days and then decided not to use it. I drive, most of the time, economically anyway. The one thing I noticed it did do was to dampen the response of the cruise control which I don't want. It does have a Sport setting beyond Drive: I think it changes up at higher revs but I don't really use it. The only time I do is when descending the steep hill outside my house in the snow - the idea being that it keeps in first gear as I go down slowly and doesn't suddenly change into second (in truth this is probably a waste of time). It also has a hill descent button and I really should try that out. I do use the paddles a bit but not often. Mostly to change down a gear, or two, for engine braking when going down a hill and I want to restrict the speed.

Not quite the same but my Lexus I just leave in (PWR) power mode ...just never know when you need it 😉 The SLK has 2 modes C for Comfort & S for Sport, although the manual says leave it in Sport as Standard, I wonder if that is a lost in translation thing. Either way I leave it in C most of the time unless on a very rare occasion I need to make a fast overtake.

For those of you who have a desiel Auto, when (if at all) do you press the Sport button and use it ? My DS5 had an "S" button which I tried a few times but never really noticed a difference with. On the topic of the "Flappy Paddles", I occasionally use to drive in Manual Mode and used them rather than the gearstick + and - positions to change gear as far more convenient and faster to use. In Auto Mode, I also used the Steering Wheel Paddles when driving more 'enthusiastically' to change up. I found the PSA Robotized Semi-Automatic Gearbox would change down gears seamlessly, but changes up could be a bit jerky if pressing on a bit on the country roads I tends to drive on mostly - and manually changing up worked well, especially as it was clutchless. On the RAV4 SR, I tried the S button a few times as well - again, couldn't really see much difference. I mostly tried to see if it changed the characteristics of the Cruise Control. It sounds like the RAV4 Cruise is very different to Davidwilsons CRV! I always found the RAV4 Cruise way too eager to resume the set speed and I would have loved a way to dampen it down On the RAV4 I DID use the paddles sometimes to change up a gear when the Cruise decided it was time to go into Boy Racer mode and drop a gear - and sometimes two - to get back up to speed ASAP. The Paddles cancelled the cruise so just got back up to speed normally and then re-engaged it. I found the RAV4 Autobox REALLY good and smooth, but the Cruise was absolutely awful and a total mismatch to the type of car, at least on the country roads I drive on (as a comparision, the DS5 Cruise and Auto combo were great - speed resumed at a normal pace and you could use the downshift paddle if you wanted it to get back to the set speed a little faster)

On the manual RAV4.4, I could not notice any difference (not in acceleration, not in the point of the shift indicator light, nor in the fuel consumption). Gave up on it.
