Hi I accidentally put £30 worth of petrol in my rav 4, thought it would be ok but drives for about 3 or 4 miles then cuts out it will restart if I leave it for about an hour my normal mechanic is ill on hospital so asking for advice Rav also had a problem when driving for over 20 mins or so and I stopped her it wouldn't want to restart mor sure if this is connected How hard is it to drain the fuel and fuel filter or needed.

You will need to drain it and change the fuel filter. I did it by undoing the tank and lowering it to drain that. Filter change would be best shown by looking on YouTube, I can’t describe it here to be honest and YouTube will show you in detail. You will get far more replies by introducing yourself here. Also fill in your vehicle details in the sidebar. Helps us help you. 👍👍

Hi Charlie Thanks for reply yes I found some on u tube but they said remove the back seat and get in from there Duncan Fuel filter is under the bonnet just right of centre at the back of the engine. It’s high up you can’t miss it. I’ve no idea why you would go under the back seat.

The petrol has a crude filter in the tank. You can drain the tank at the bottom of the fuel filler but it’s a messy job and the fuel will be dangerous so no naked lights.
