Hi, I'm the proudish owner of an old, battered workhorse 2008 RAV4 T180 2.2 D-Cat that's definitely beginning to feel its age (as am I 😀). After 140,000 miles of bumping up and down a variety of Dorset's farm tracks, lanes, and roads it is beginning to need slightly more than the usual TLC, despite having large amounts of money lavished on it for services, brakes, and tyres (why does mine have to have the 18 inch wheels option?).
So my reason for joining this club is to find people wise in the way of RAV to offer advice on how to cure some of the grumbles my car is now developing. In return, I have made a few improvements to the RAV, particularly fitting a new Chinese aftermarket head unit and linking it successfully into the existing reversing camera and steering wheel controls - something which I've noticed other people have struggled with...
Hopefully you'll not get tired of me asking questions about fault codes, sensor locations, ecu programming, etc as my RAV is a weird one, a very early Mark III, and an import from Europe (but RHD). None of the workshop manuals I look at bear any resemblance to the configuration of my engine layout - and who in their right minds puts the alternator at the bottom rear of the engine with no room to exchange it without having to undo mounts and jack up the engine to get space? 😮🤬
Anyway, hello to everyone from a slightly grumpy Yorkshireman now living in Dorset 👍🏼

Hi Davrav, I'm not sure as it came in via Eire and was replated in the UK...

Hi Davrav, I'm not sure as it came in via Eire and was replated in the UK... Eire is Europe so could have come from there too I guess.

Your car has 18 inch rims because it and the SR originally had a version of runflat tyres.. Also the T and SR cars were considered top of the range. I would imagine most cars will have long since had the run flat kit and tyres removed as with them only Toyota or a hand full of Specialists with the fight machines could fit tyres.
