Goodness. So much info. Just back home after buying a 2007 4 door RAV. I did of course check all the hinges. Just needs a valet and rear wiper. £2200. Oh, and 2 suspension bushes up front.
My ongoing experience with the Audi Q7 puts me off touching a VAG made car ever again....the parts prices are ridiculous and the 'trained' mechanics must've done their training on a beetle. As mentioned I think by Charlie, I use Archoil in any diesel cars I happen to own. Seems to help mpg as well. The RAV I got is a stop gap until the Audi is fixed...altho I might sell it then. My friendly garage I've used for decades said (when I booked this car in for a service) "what is it with you and RAV4s?"
The chap I bought from has replaced the RAV with a Ford Focus estate...seems like a nice car too. Not 4 wheel drive but comfy, and I was able to get in and out without breaking my neck, or crawling along the ground.

is anyone running a 4.4 2.5 petrol hybrid what is the fuel econmoy like in real life ? All my consumption data here: www.spritmonitor.de/en/detail/776688.htmlYou'll have to login to spritmonitor & change your displayed units or do the conversion to mpg if you want the above in mpg. I tend not to push the vehicle hard.

so pretty good for a 2.5 mild hybrid then. i dont really like the look of the 4.4, the 4.5 does look better to me so may have raid the bank balance a bit more for a 4.5. are the models design, then excel with trim levels such as leather /nav/ winter pack etc addons.

The pan roof, JBL sound and 360 degree camera were all extras I think but not certain because I bought the car as was as a demonstrator. MPG has averaged between 42 and 45 without trying very hard. A best of 59 and a worst of 38 in sub-zero winter temperatures. I believe that the Excel has all the toys as standard but Philip can confirm that. AFAIK Design and Icon have cloth as standard. The standout piece of kit for me is the 360 camera; it’s brilliant IMHO.👍😊

Ours has got headlight washers, front and rear parking sensors and auto dipping headlights (which, for me, is yet another answer to a question that nobody asked). I guess the dealer must have loaded it up for use as a demonstrator. 😊

hi all... i dont know a lot about the 4.4 having had my 4.2 for ten years i never really looked at them, but its getting time to look and learn. iam looking at something like the below....are there any issues to look out for ? 2.5vvt-h engine any issues of note? batery ? any bodywork issues/pointers? not too sure on the wheels they look diamond cut ? this one is in the desing spec but excel spec looks to be close. is there any upgrade in media or nav to lookout for ? as i am not sure what the standard is. 18 inch wheels std ? 19 option ? power tailgate std ? or a option sorry for the dumb questions

I had a 2013 4.4 D-CAT Auto Icon - that had a powered tailgate. I never had any issues with anything on the car ...
I never really liked the 'look' - it's a bit bland and slightly 'odd' from some angles - but I never disliked it enough to put me off ...
Compared with earlier RAVs (I had a 4.3) it's much more civilised and not so much 'fun' - that all depends on what you want. IIRC it actually suggests somewhere in the handbook that it is not designed for off-road use (or something like that).
It's biggest weakness in terms of a threat to reliability would have been the D-CAT diesel, and a hybrid won't have that worry.
17" wheels on the lower trims; 18" on the Icon and Excel - 235/55 R18
I've got a 2017 brochure (pdf) but it's a bit too big to upload ...

Not dumb questions Stu. It's so long since I bought a new car I wouldn't have a clue.

See me I will only buy any Hybrid car if I can buy a nearly new one and one with very very low miles…. Now my reasoning may not be right but the way I’m looking at it is with a near new car that’s had almost no use the electric side including the batteries is virtually new and hasn’t been used and has a good lump of warranty remaining….
For that reason if I couldn’t or wouldn’t stretch to the numbers needed I’d buy a petrol or diesel. Don’t write off a diesel the 4.4 is as far as I’m aware as good as diesels get.
The fella I mentioned elsewhere who has a 16 plate Hybrid is getting low 30s MPG. Those of us and there are a few go onto the Facebook page for the RAV4 may as I have noticed owners of the first few model years of Hybrid complaining bitterly of poor MPG ….. Again I could be wrong but could it be the electrickery the cars have is past it’s flush of youth and giving less assistance or is it because it’s older generation kit so not as good and therefore economical as the later cars Jim and Phillip have…
My logic may well be wrong but I liken it to power tools. Pick up a new tool with a new battery after using an identical old set up and I have and the difference can be felt… So surely as the cars get older and the use increases they won’t perform as well ?

many thanks another question...where does the design model fit into the range ? is it above the excel or between the excel and icon ? I believe that the Design is simply Icon renamed. I'm not too sure when the renaming happen but I believe 2017/2018 ... There was never a time when both Icon and Design grades co-existed on the pricelist.
