Hi, I have a 2007 RAV4 D4D and need to change the rear disc pads. I used a 17mm socket on the front caliper mounting bolts last year, but I can´t seem to get a 17mm socket onto the rear caliper mounting bolts, I remember the socket was a very tight fit on the front bolts and ended up tapping it on with a soft hammer. I have an unused spare bolt from Toyota and it´s definatly 17mm..... Any tips? cheers, John

Wire brush the bolt head? Is the socket actually 17mm? some of the cheaper socket sets sometimes have incorrect sizes stamped on various sockets.

Thanks for the reply Dave, finally got both caliper mounting bolts off, as you said, wire brush the heads, a little CRC, and a good quality 17mm socket seated all the way (I do NOT like these bolts with a bit of a taper on the hex, have no idea why they do that!).
The caliper is not moving and needs to be replaced, here in Norway a non-Toyota one is 1300kr/£98, plus the two copper washers for the brake hose banjo coupling.
Anyway, it´s always nice to get some advice.
cheers & thanks, John
