I'm just doing a major overhaul of the rear brakes on my 4.3 and have a couple of questions:
1) The slide pins for the calipers are different at the top and bottom. Mine have the one with the rubber bush at the top on the nearside and the bottom on the offside. Is this right? Does it matter which pin is in the top or bottom holes?
2) does anyone have a diagram showing the assembly of the handbrake shoes and the spring placement?
Many thanks guys

Many thanks David - I forgot about YouTube. Interesting that they don't fit the small pad endfloat springs/shims on the American model.

Ha, make sure those end float springs are at the top in direction of rotation Chris. Many moons ago when Anchs was still in short trousers he spotted that a Toyota 'technician' had fitted some of mine down side up.

On the other hand, what he doesn't know about brakes is not worth knowing. My other question was about which position ( top or bottom ) the slide pins with the rubber bush take. I wonder if I should PM him? I'm not sure about their purpose, unless it is some sort of anti-rattle device

I'm sure a PM to Anchs would be beneficial EDIT I wonder if all four pins should have the rubber bellows and two have disintegrated over time?

I've PM'd Anchs who answered almost immediately - 'cause he had nothing better to do whilst sunning himself in the Canaries! Just trying to sort out the proper lubricant, then I'll post all the info I have in one post.

That's very comprehensive David. Pity we can't get a copy on here. BTW, have you noticed the motor he has listed on that post Oh no, I hope it isn't a red one
