I'm emerging from 3 days of wine, food, more wine, even more food.
Thank you all for the kind wishes
My kids paid for a couple of nights away for me and the missus, seeing it was my 70th and our 20th anniversary
Drive to Balbirnie House Hotel near Glenrothes (thats in Fife) for afternoon tea, an overnight in a massive 4 poster bedroom which had a bed so wide that I was far enough away to avoid being elbowed when I started snoring at night, and a 7 course tasting menu with accompanying wines. Excellent and highly recommend !! Best to take a bottle for the handbag but - gin and tonic £10.50 for 25ml measure.
Breakfast in the morning, then drive off to Kilmany where my grandparents reside (cemetery) - Kilmany was where Jim Clark the racing driver was born..a tiny village but has a statue of him there.
From there, along to Strathmiglo where Hoggs of Fife have a shop and bought a jumper in the sale, big enough to cover my increased frame !
Then off to Perth to visit the shops.....the missus didn't find anything there that fitted/suited so drive to the Dunblane Hydro Hotel for the second night of our present - dinner and B&B. The bedroom was nice but not a patch on the Balbirnie one. A nice meal, and retire to the bedroom to rest a bit!
Following morning, breakfast buffet then check-out....thick fog outside. Drive down to John Lewis in Glasgow where a suitable dress was found, and back home then to reality.
Altogether a nice few days!
