Our daughters Aygo has the electric folding roof but it is now starting to show the green moss on top of it in places. Can anyone recommend a product or suggest how to get it off and keep it clean, will just soap (washing up liquid) and water do the trick? She's found an Autoglym product but it's £25 off Amazon or £30 at Halfords.

I used to use the Autoglym soft top kit that you mention on the Saab; it’s two spray bottles, one’s a cleaner to get the moss etc off and once that’s dry you apply the fabric protector from the other bottle. You do need to scrub the roof well with the cleaner using the applicator provided and it’s important to wait until the roof is really dry before applying the protector spray. Obviously you’ll need a dry day or a garage. It’s good stuff and compared to some of the other products on the market, very good value. 👍😊

Renovo do a kit consisting of a cleaner ( soap) and a proofer ( waterproofer ….
The soap in all these kits is plain ordinary soap with a fancy package. The proofer is a dedicated product. So I buy just the proofer as I have plenty of cleaners and soaps.
Jim is bang on you need to get the fabric very clean and bone dry. I always carefully vacuum the top on my car before applying the proofer as evenly as possible. 👍
You can also get a colourant that improves the looks especially if it’s a bit dull or bleached. That goes on after the clean and dry but before the proofer.

Just an update. My daughters chap had a go at cleaning the roof over the weekend and it has come up really well, almost looks new and you can feel the protective coating on there, but how long it'll last we will have to wait and see :TU: They both said they couldn't believe the amount of dirt that came off it

When you consider how much atmospheric contamination falls on the car every day, an annual clean is really the minimum. Bit like annual waxing; bi-annual is better. 👍😂
