Kev the very important bit your missing is...
Remove the bottle. Then pull off the pipe that the mixture goes up. This pipe is pushed onto a brass jet. That jet is in effect the flow restrictor . Take a 10mm deep socket and remove it. Then clean it thoroughly and blow through the appetiures. Re assemble and marvel at you lance that works like brand bliddy new.
What happens is bits of muck that get into the mix bottle trap in that jet. This restricts the flow from the bottle and your lance will put out pish instead of a blanket of excellent bliddy foam.
I gaurantee I can strip clean and reassemble a lance back to brand new working order in 20 minutes tops.

Using Glasgow watter, soft, many years ago I started with 8 parts to one foam. First gun lasted four years with only clean water rinse, nae stripping. It finally blocked so bought a newy and went for 10-1 mix........blocked within a year. Up here the watter is better than bottled, so now 12-1 as experiment. Forgot to mention.......got new China gun twa weeks ago........bliddy thing no working right......£11.99. Methinks it is just a quality versus luck, Chuck. Jase.......hose may not be defrosted to use today......Karcher gun was £24.95, so THAT better bliddy work or I will say bliddy....... Please take that Karcher lance back for a refund. They are my big mate utter pish..... Thetbjust are...

I bought this lance and foam 'combo' from Autobrite back in 2013 - I think this was what Charlie (or someone) recommended at the time - and have just ordered a second bottle of foam. The kit includes the lance, 5L snow foam and a dispensing pump to get it out of the bottle. There may be better and I suspect that you may be able to find it more cheaply elsewhere but this has worked exceeding well for me. [And, apart from a rinse, I've never 'cleaned' any part of the lance yet and it still works perfectly ]

Spot on Charlie.....even bought a wee setta deep 3/8" sockets to do that very job after reading your now gone tutorial. Some flakes of like Verdi gris (copper/brass rust) did indeed come therefrom, but to no avail. Will do it again, only this time wiff compressed air at a garage place......thanks for input.

Kev that jet can block up once every five years or twice a week depending on what is put or gets into the bottle. Im thinking even some foam types may be having an effect. Ive never yet stripped a lance and not been able to get it back to performing like new. Its after all a fairly simple wee device. Clean all area irrespective and it will be braw..

And there's a question ... You dilute it about 10:1 when you fill the 1L bottle of the lance - so 5L will fill the foam lance around 50 times. And you can foam two larger or three smaller cars with each bottle full. So, realistically it should do around 100 RAV4 washes but it will rather depend on how you use it ... Either way, the above estimate feels consistent with my experience with our cars though I certainly haven't been counting!

There are two ways of stripping wax with your lance. 1 is to put too much of the solution in the mix bottle. 2 is to turn the knob on the lance up too much. This will allow to much of the mix to be sent over your car. So to explain how to get a good wash safely...... Take your lance bottle. Add 1.5 to 2 inches of snow foam into said bottle Add a wee squeeze of shampoo Then fill to the top with warm to hot water. Hot water will simply mix the elements better When spraying over the car don’t have the knob on the lance that controls the mix drawn up to high. If you do the foam will be very thick bit it shouldn’t. You are looking for foam of course but too thick is not what you want as that is too strong and can strip wax as much as addiding to much foam into the lance bottle. Same results. So stick to the 1.5 to 2 inches and not to high on that mixture knob. Remember if it’s to strong all you will do is waste product and strip wax. Get it right you will have a clean car and retain your wax. i would post up a picture / diagram of the lance and how to clean it but I can’t post pictures cos no one will tell me how.... Did I mention that ?

That has given me an idea, Charlie.......I think Inwill strengthen one bottle mix and see what happend with my supposed faulty foamers. Mind you, regardless WHERE I put the mixing control, if there was twa inches in the bottle tobstart, methinks all the residents of Aviemore would be paying me a visit, skis at the ready. The soft water up here is saving us lots in both car and dandruff shampoo. Patted ma wife on the back recently......snowed for three days.......

Thank you all for your help and advice, it’s very much appreciated. I will be looking at purchasing a snow foam gun and juice in the next few days. :TU:
