Are there plans for a RAV4 update this year to update the infotainment system? It seems to be a slightly weak area of the RAV4 and the lack of a fully digital drivers display Our 20-reg has the JBL system which works well and does everything I want including mobile connectivity. Our daughter came with me on a road trip to Tyneside yesterday and spent most of the journey playing with it with her mobile and playlist. She commented that it’s better than the system in her Alfa Stelvio. Do you have any particular improvements in mind?

Mainly around the size and resolution of the screen which seems to be behind compared to newer cars and the lack of a fully digital drivers display

Ours has a switchable display between a digi speedo and an analogue one. As well there is a myriad of functional displays within both the speedo options ranging from mpg meter to a compass (I can't remember all the options off the top of my head because I don't play with them often ). It also displays turn by turn instructions for the satnav and telephone call and msg details when in use. The eco/power meter (used to be the tacho), fuel gauge and temp gauge have traditional pointers but the dials themselves are digital and activate once the car is switched on. I'm no techie expert by any means but I guess that you are referring to full TFT displays. Our daughter's Audi has one and personally I can't see any advantage over the one in the RAV. I don't have a clue what Toyota have in mind for the future in this regard; others on here might. You could always contact Toyota GB and ask them???

The Hybrid System Indicator, Fuel gauge and Engine coolant temperature gauge are good old fashioned analogue gauges with dials and pointers. The Multi Information Display in the centre is a digital screen. I'm not aware of any updates planned for the infotainment system and that's common across a range of Toyota models. MY23 updates usually get trailed / rumoured over the summer with formal announcements, if any, made in September / October. Beware information relating to US spec cars (or indeed non-UK spec cars) - that way lies disappointment ...

"Toyota Smart Connect" is Mr T's latest multimedia platform. 9" screen and "HD". Yaris Cross has it (unless the vehicle has city/advanced safety pack, in which case it get downgraded to previous Toyota Touch). "further vehicles will receive it in due course". If/When that will be for the RAV.........answers on a postcard (I remember those). mag.toyota.co.uk/what-is-toyota-smart-connect/

Smart Connect is itself the downgraded service with a suitable marketing name - it provides Apple Car Play and Android Auto but lacks any built-in sat nav. Toyota Touch 2 is essentially the same and includes the built-in sat nav. So Smart Connect is for the smaller / cheaper / lower grade cars ... that said, as folk move to smartphone navigation by choice Smart Connect makes more and more sense ...

Alright, for the pedants -> "changed" then.
On Yaris cross:
The smart connect screen is 9" and called "HD".
The Touch 2 screen is 8" and lower res.
From the above, some (search the web) have considered the touch 2 a "downgrade", despite the other differences between the two systems.
I'm just trying the answer the question, which does ask about size and resolution in an above post. So, presumably Simonb82, would consider the touch 2 a "downgrade", if presented with the above choices.
Have to see what happens with other Mr T. vehicles.

See me….? I think all this pish about infotainment systems has gotten WAY out of hand….bear with.
Where do you spend more time….? In yer hoose, or in yer car…? Get a good home system, or a REALLY good home system, and enjoy well reproduced music. Even video, and surround sound. My XJ has a stonking Meridian Surround System, but really…..in a car….? Cars are a totally mince environment for musical entertainment, and imho long ago became a “bragging rights” issue. (FFS…..remember Clarion…?)
