Just ordered some dehumidifier bags you mentioned from Amazon will give them a go. I suppose they can come in handy for the cortina as that is the garage now.

Call me thick but why would you remove any seals to fit a dashcam? Isn’t the screen bonded in any event? Our RAV has a dealer-fit Nextbase cam and there’s no problem with condensation or icing. As a matter of interest, Ash, have you tried a Keplin dehumidifier bag in the car? No I’ve not tried that. It’s really frustrating as it ices up and you have to scrape it off literally. The 4.2 is fantastic and the 4.3 never had any issues. Anyway I think he was referring to the door rubber even then they fitted the next base so it doesn’t make sense and seems to be an excuse if anything. I’ve not bothered taking it back now as they have no courtesy car and the y said they can’t predict the weather so just fed up with it. However I’ve decide I will leave a note somewhere for whoever has it next but can’t think of where to put it. One of the responses from the dealer was oh it’s got a couple of years warrant left so don’t worry about it and that really is a taking the pi$$. Instead of trying to rectify it they’ve just made excuses. Thankfully the navigation screen has been fine so far no signs of any water. Sounds like a pretty poor dealer. Shame really. Maybe we’ve just been lucky but we’ve used 3 or 4 dealers over the years depending upon where we lived at the time and they’ve all been good. Do you have another one reasonably close by that you could try?

Do you have another one reasonably close by that you could try? To be fair they were really good as we’ve used them for a few years. Prior to them we used Toyota World in Brum who were fantastic. The next closest one is the same dealership in Silsden. I’ll tell you what though the last 5 years or so I’ve never had the same person twice their staff retention seems awful. I booked the C-HR for its first MOT and the guy I spoke to I asked him if he wouldn’t mind reminding me a few days before as I was out and didn’t have anything to write it down with and his response was I’m not sure if we can do that so I just didn’t bother. We then had a call after the last time we took it in and he asked how they did and I was brutally honest and he said that the dealer principal will call back but nothing so I’ve decided when we do but the Corolla all being well I might just use the dealer in Brum as we go there a lot anyway. If they can’t be bothered then I don’t see why I should be spending my money with them. Another thing when they and try and sell you the service packages etc it’s all Mr and Sir, coffee and biscuits and the minute it goes wrong it’s another story. I can’t for the life of me remember what they were called before these lot took over now but it’ll come back to me.

If it were me and I was able to establish it’s not a characteristic of the CHR I would try a trusted independent…..
Firstly though I would inform aToyota customer service what I was going to do and whom I expect to pay the bill for remedial work that a Toyota main dealer was unable to do…..

They were OK when I bought my RAV from their Rochdale branch but I was not happy when they stuffed up the cap on the bottom of the filter by using it to tighten a new filter in position. A couple of years after that they said the Q links on the rear anti-roll bar needed changing and it would cost ( if I remember correctly! ) £269. At that point I decided that I would service it myself as at least I'd know what had been done and what oil had been used. The high point of their performance was when they changed the engine after 32k Miles because of the oil consumption. The dealership at Silsden is also RRG so you have to go to Colne if you want someone other than RRG. The dealership there is Vantage. I've only dealt with them once when they did a Toyota recall job and they were fine on that occasion

Thanks for that Chris and glad it’s not just me. I won’t be dealing with them anymore and I think Vantage are also in Leeds. I’m not taking the C-HR for it’s MOT either to Toyota will just take it to one of the local places instead as I can’t see it failing on anything. It really is disappointing but I suppose you learn with experience.

He will remember me as I've been using him for 10 years. He doesn't do any repairs so no axe to grind!

The PCP terms specify "Guaranteed Future Value/Optional Final Payment" so Ash can make the final payment or trade in the car for it's then current commercial value - which will be at least the Guaranteed Future Value but more if second-hand cars have appreciated during his ownership. Maybe Ash can get a nice deal on a Corolla Cross when it becomes available? We did consider this and looking online similar spec and mileage are selling for £22K the only risk with that is if we can’t sell it. We have decided that we want the new Corolla though. It’s definite 100%. So what I’ve done now is I’ve borrowed if you like my sisters Yaris 1.4 D4D mmt. She’s not using it at all as she’s still recovering from her Cancer so she said I can have it for as long as I need. I’ll just make sure I maintain it and look after it so when it goes back to her hopefully the new Corolla should be here and her cars tip top as it’s just been parked up for the last 10 months or so. If we didn’t have the windscreen issues I may have paid the final payment but it’s just done my head in so much I can’t be bothered with it. Weekend gone again the same issue and it does look as if it’s a common issue as other C-HR owners are experiencing the same. One thing that the dealer pi$$ed me off on was that because it has a dashcam and the rubber was removed that could’ve caused it. So does that mean Toyota shouldn’t be fitting dashcams as it’s likely to cause icing on the windscreen inside when it’s cold. It just beggars belief with some of the excuses they make. Before settling on a Corolla it may be worth waiting to find out if it suffers from the same misting problem…. Toyota are parts bin specials as are mot manufacturers cars so it could be the same.

Ash apart from the usual tips for combating condensation have you tried a thermal wrap blanket ? We used them on our Motorhome and they were brilliant. Without one the insides of the screen and side windows would be streaming with water .
Link shows one for a Motorhome but I’d be surprised if there isn’t a car version.
We have been experiencing tremendous changes in temperatures this last couple of months. … Today here 14 degrees. This time last week minus 1…. Many changes within a day often as well…. Absolute breeding ground for condensation. 👍👍👍

Just ordered some dehumidifier bags you mentioned from Amazon will give them a go. I suppose they can come in handy for the cortina as that is the garage now. As a matter of interest, Ash, do you keep the aircon on all the time? That will help keep the car dry inside (but keep the recirculation off!) as well as keeping the system's seals nicely lubed. It can make a big difference to humidity levels in the interior. Many people don't use the aircon as they think it impacts MPG; it does but not to any significant extent, certainly re-gassing because the seals have dried out through lack of use will eat up any marginal fuel savings.
