Hi all
Well the 4.2 has passed its latest test, but with an advisory as below.....
Offside Front Anti-roll bar linkage ball joint has slight play (5.3.4 (a) (i))
is this fixable by a man who can strip and replace the brakes on his 4.2, service oil etc and has a trolley jack !! just not sure how complex the job is and if any special tools are needed ? are they replaced in a pair?
any advise welcome.
Thanks stu

So long as you can access them and get them off, then yes :TU: Just be aware that the nuts will most likely be rusted on and the quickest and easiest method to get them off is to split them with an angle grinder.

Thanks stu for the joints Stu, if they are anything like the 4.3 they are not much of a problem. The difficulty is stopping the nut rotating the whole joint when you are trying to undo it. I did mine a couple of years back and solved the problem by cutting down the middle of the nuts and "studs" with an angle grinder fitted with a slitting wheel. The anti-rollbar is connected to the lower suspension by a pair of vertical links and it is sensible to replace the links on both sides at the same time. Just be a bit careful that you don't cut into the mounting lugs ( top or bottom ) when cutting the nuts off. I probably cut down the stud to within 1mm of the lug and then gave it a bit of assistance with a cold chisel. The first side will probably take an hour but the second side should be a lot quicker than that. Good luck and let us know how you get on Sorry David, I was writing the same thing at the same time as you!

As said above ..other than your tools and trolley Jack …a grinder will be required 👍🏻 My choice of after market brand would be Blueprint 👍🏻
