...going to go up or down??
What do you all recon? Or is it still too early to tell?
New or used it just seems to be going up and up whenever I look.
OK demand > supply right now but will that change if the chip shortage ends, interest rates go up, holidays become more important, etc, etc.
Thoughts folks.

Just a guess but the used prices may well take a tumble once all those new cars become available again.

Indeed. But the question is, when?

I think we’ve reached a peak…. Don’t think prices are still rising. I’m looking to buy another caravan and was hoping prices would slacken off with the season being over and winter not far away but no movement yet. .

Just what I read, not my opinion: No movement in caravans price as dealers are buying for stock, so there is still demand. Also, people are still looking to buy thinking on the next holiday season. Once I get the van, and the build is on the way I will probably sell mine. Hope prices will stay high...(sorry Charlie)

The prices are an indicator of demand which equals UK holiday resorts being packed. So packed it’s no fun whatsoever being there. We last had and used a caravan in September last year. It was really packed then so packed that we couldn’t get the car parked anywhere so we were kinda stuck. My wife can’t walk very far at all so it’s not like we could park way out and walk. This year was were told worse still…. So no point in paying way over the odds for a van we wouldn’t get any decent use of. If overseas travel doesent mean uk holidays will return to something approaching normality then we get no holidays.

WBAC.com are still quoting our RAV at more than I paid for it in April. I was toying with the idea of an Alfa Stelvio having been out on the test drive with our daughter last week. Lovely car and our local AR dealer has a few used ones but they are all petrol and the MPG is eye-wateringly bad. Diesel's fine but no good for our regular local journeys now.

This thread prompted a discussion with my wife and I while we were travelling in the car…. After discussing the barmy caravan prices and the no signs of slow down indicating packed resorts again next year we’ve binned the idea of buying another….. Neither of us like really busy places …
Cars are a little more simple. What we have suits our needs for as far into the future as is possible to see…. I think buying right now is a complete lottery. 👍

You or I can I expect get away with or tolerate any hotel bed. Someone whose had a spinal injury like my wife is no so lucky. It’s hit and miss. A hit means we’re fine. A miss means we’re going home. My wife cannot sit in a chair for more than about 20 minutes after which she has to move or more often get up…. We’ve bought a chair with full electric adjustment which also stands her up……. Sadly air travel is no longer an option either…. We selfishly hope people will return to foreign travel ASAP….. That of course could take some years 👍👍👍

We tend to use the CAMC small CL's which are usually quite empty, with a max of 5 units. Agree not everyone likes them and there are some which I would not go back to. As for hotels, my wife has just done a rough calculation, and with all our expenses on the caravan (buying the caravan, insurance and storage etc.) We need to sell the caravan for a very low amount (~£1k) to break even with taking holidays without it. I think the caravan worth way more than that. But for us it is more a lifestyle choice then price.

We tried to get into Loe in Cornwall 3 times last September but couldn’t get parked anywhere within walking distance, So we parked further out and got a taxi in…. It’s not easy when someone is struggling to walk. When the taxi picked us up he told us we had only 40 minutes where we had parked. So it was a taxi ride in ten minutes for coffees and a taxi ride out…… Same at Fowey…. Every sector of the car park had cars waiting to park. Usually in September there are loads of spaces. Twice we tried to get parked but never did… My daughter has a house in a gated community right at the end of the seafront at Weston Super Mare. It’s been a war zone across the whole area with folk just dumping their cars and paying the fines. We are kinda limited for obvious reasons but it’s not worth the effort so we will leave well alone. 👍👍

Good friend of ours which we go with is limited in what she can do so I am aware of the limitations. She uses a mobility scooter with a special chair for her. I did not think of this as when only us we tend not to go into cities, but walk/cycle in the countryside.
