A few weeks back i used the pump at my local shell garage to inflate my tyres (32psi ) the posh looking machine duly charged me a quid for the pleasure . since then the ride feels harsher than normal and i need to check my pressures. i only have a pencil type gauge and an antique brass foot pump and as most garage forecourts are a no go at the moment i was wondering what others use. My neighbour has a cheapo Halfords pump he uses on his ford and reckons its pretty accurate. any thoughts?

I used to go through maybe one foot pump a year as most are simply crap. A few years ago I invested in a Heyner double barrel foot pump and it is still like new and has an accurate pressure gauge attached. Not cheap but YGWYPF.👍👍

thanks Bob, what pump do you use. I have a small portable air compressor on wheels 👍🏻 Before that I had a Halfords twin barrel foot pump, still have it and it works fine but the compressor is just easier 😉

I've one of these Bob: It's light enough to be hand portable and great for running small tools, blowing up tyres etc but I also have a permanently installed compressor in the garage for spraying, mist cooling on the lathe / milling machine etc. This feeds around the garage in 15mm copper pipe which works well.

looks great Chris .Your garage sounds well set-up. i need something portable, i don't have a garage so whatever i get needs to be either in the car or the shed. i think a decent gauge and foot pump might be the way to go. i might try and resurrect my dads old 'Kismet Junior' until i make up my mind.

Double barrel foot pump and the gauge I showed above will sort you out 👍🏻 There is a review on foot pumps, think with Auto Express. The winner I’m sure was a Michelin item …as it goes it comes with a digital gauge built in, could tick all your boxes in one go 😎
