Since our daughter as had her Rav she has been manually putting the door mirrors in and out when parked up, but the other morning she forgot to pull them out and when the ignition was turned on both door mirrors automatically folded out. We then thought that the mirrors should fold in and out when entering and exiting the Rav but they don't. There is a button she can press to fold the mirrors in when getting out, but should they fold in and out automatically. Her Rav does have the smart entry so would have thought the mirrors would fold?

What year is her RAV?
On my 4.4 the doors mirrors didn't fold automatically - instead there is a button to fold them manually; pressing the button again unfolds them.
I used to fold them manually, switch off and then press the button to unfold. Next time I switched on they unfolded, apparently automatically but not ...

It's a 2018 Hybrid Icon with smart entry which i think was an optional extra that the previous owner had fitted as she was disabled, but yes she does now use that button but just seems an odd way of doing it rather than the mirrors folding in and out automatically??

They automatically unfold and fold on the Yaris. It was the same on the Yaris we had Jase and again the smart entry was fitted on that.

I have had a quick googy and found that some seem to fold automatically and some have that button inside which can be turned to auto, our daughter doesn't have that option for auto so guess it means pressing the button when she remembers to. Also there is a wiring you can purchase and fit to have them fold automatically.

There used to be a kit we could buy and fit that enabled auto folding. A lot of fuss to save pressing a button but worth it in a way as it might save a mirror getting bust if we forget to fold them in. The most basic Fords have auto fold even the vans. It could have been factory fitted for pence. 👍👍👍

More accurately, the door mirrors auto fold as you lock and unlock the car and there a button to override that and fold the mirrors at other times. The wife's C-HR is the same. As is Jase's Yaris. And, probably, every other recent model Toyota! Yes, Toyota has invested them pence!

Shame they didn’t invest those pennies in the earlier models… My car is Invincible spec but still doesent have that what for some manufacturers is a basic feature. It’s no biggie for me as I never park anywhere where I need the mirrors in. I did find it handy on the two fiestas we had as I could tell at a glance if the cars were locked 👍👍

On Hondas you hold the lock button down for an extended time and the mirrors fold. They unfold automatically only when the driver's door is opened.
