So another U turn from BJ and his chancellor 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ Everyone keeps going on about freedom day tomorrow on the radio today but I’m going to be honest as recently it doesn’t even feel like as there were any restrictions. I’ve hardly seen anyone wearing masks, no social distancing and everything as before lockdown. We went into Leeds yesterday for a bit of shopping and it defo didn’t feel like there were any restrictions

I think the lifting of restrictions is another giant blunder from the oaf and his cronies.
Boris was far to late locking us down when this lot hit early last year. Blunder two was doing next to nothing when the Delta varient was threatening from India.
But no real action was taken against this woefully poor leadership.
Last month we were supposed to fully unlock on the 19th but it never happened because of the data. The numbers if you like.
Yet here we are one month on and the data/numbers are so much worse yet all of the big restrictions are to be dropped as Boris is effectively letting the virus rip…….
Why have we been through all this crap for the last 18 months only to find out that money after all comes before lives. Lives after all were told matter ?
The trouble with having a thick buffoon who is a serial liar in charge of the country is we have a completely disjointed way of dealing with major incidents/disaster….
Worth remembering is these people NEVER get held to account no matter how many times they bugger up. They don’t get held to account when caught red handed telling bare faced lies.
Our country is in a right old mess and I’m not talking covid.
You mark my words here. Sooner or later there will be a varient develop somewhere that our vaccines can’t stop. It will be allowed in just like the first lot then the Delta varient. Then we will be in the mire.

I went to the funeral of a family friend last Thursday, Maximun of 30 at the wake….. I kid you not. The widow was extremely upset that a lot of people couldn’t go….

There is usually more than one way of looking at things ... I'd like to find the media buffoon that coined the term "freedom day" - we can't blame either the government or their advisers for that - and what should be done to that person, and those spreading that delusion probably shouldn't be stated on a family friendly forum. We are patently not going to be free tomorrow ... The government advice has not changed much at all. The primary emergency legislation that enabled an authoritarian government to impose restrictions of our freedom expires today - and they have chosen no to renew it. The guidance remains pretty much the same - it just that we can no longer expect the police to enforce it - and it is now up to organisations and the UK public to behave sensibly. And if they really can't, do we, as a society, really deserve to survive? I'm honestly not sure that I want to live in a police state - which is, in effect, what proponents of the alternative propose. So, Sadiq Khan has said that people will continue to wear mask on London Transport; the major supermarkets are going to continue to impose social distancing; and I won't be going anywhere that I don't feel "protects me" - I'm not going where the morons play. I have no problem with the legislation not being renewed - I am rather concerned that it may be too early to take the stabilisers off. A parallel thought - I remember when seat belts were introduced - and they were largely static belts at the time. And, at the time, like many people, I didn't want to be told that I had to wear a seat belt, or wear one for that matter. The legislation 'needed' to be in place while people got used to the idea. I strongly suspect that the legislation requiring the wearing of seat belts is now wholly redundant and could safely be repealed. How many of us could get into a car today and not belt up? And we do it as a matter of choice. And those who just won't - I can't think of anyone but there may be - won't obey the law anyway. That specific piece of legislation is now redundant. I'm not proposing that it actually be repealed - it's probably a waste of parliamentary time to do so - but it is an unnecessary infringement on our civil liberties to do the sensible think of our own volition. Now, who started this political thread?

When it all goes mammaries skyward, and it will, it'll all be 'our' fault.

When it all goes mammaries skyward, and it will, it'll all be 'our' fault. Correct. No one made us behave like idiots. "They" gave us all the relevant information and support and we ...

Believe me, there are still plenty of idiots that flout the seatbelt laws especially as rear seat passengers as the car doesn't scream at them, it's not the first time even even in resent years that I have had someone in the back say no it fine I'm OK and I have had to insist, using the law as the culprit and excuse rather than making an awkward situation worse.

my intention wasn’t to start a political thread far from it. My main concern is over the last few months people have just flouted the rules around masks and social distancing. Personally I’ve avoided most places if I could and we’ve mainly done online shopping where possible, I know sooner or later we have to go back to some sort of normality but these buffoons just keep changing the rules to suit themselves. There’s been more U turns in the last 12 months around some of the rules it’s unbelievable. Anyway we’re going to continue wearing masks and whatever we can do to stay safe and protect others but really worried about schools opening and the number of infections rising. I do agree with Charlie though I wouldn’t be surprised if we end up with a variant thats immune to the vaccine. Stay safe 😊

I’m just sick to the back teeth with the hypocrisy we get served up daily. 👍👍👍 Covid is a subject that is bigger than politics. So straying into it is almost inevitable. Anyway a few have answered and were discussing in our usual civil manner so I think no harm done ? 👍👍

Yes I was realy impressed (not) with the social distancing at the British GP I think the only masks I saw were in the pits. There was not meant to be any social distancing at the GP for the visitors. It was held under different and controlled regulations.

It was held under different and controlled regulations. In theory your right. In practice the things visitors were supposed to conform to we’re not done I have a pal who runs a security company that was one of many contracted to work at Silverstone . His guys were quite within their rights to ask for conformity slips but had zero power if people said no….. Its the same with people coming in from risky countries, There is no one that have any powers to force folk to isolate. They walk through customs with “Advice” but no one can force them to isolate they can do as they please. How many have been prosecuted for failing to do the right thing ? It’s an utter and complete debacle nothing less .

I thought both the Wembley final and the GP were 'test events' - lots of guinea pigs all crammed together.
