Reputations grow even though not always deserved....Not long after I decided not to buy a good mate voiced his desires for the very same model I was hankering after that V6 convertible.. I said I was looking myself not long ago but bottled it due to the advice I was given here and on Pistonheads a site I go on often. So there’s me putting him off and I’ve never owned one ! Adding of course to the reputation 😳😳😳 All cars are a risk some more or less than others. If ever the right perfect V6 drops in front of me I think I would roll the dice ..... I think you’re right. Life’s too short and if it all went tits up, so what? You’d just flog it and move on to something else. There’s much worse that could befall any of us than a dodgy set of wheels.😊 Ohhhh How I’m going to remember that next time I mention JLR cars 🤪🤪🤪😂😂😂 Ive been browsing towing cars. I really like the older Discovery the big chunky square one..... |

Brother in law had Alfa 164 twin spark for a while as work car. I drove it as well. It was a pleasure to drive, fun responsive and all you want. You would not however want to foot the service bill though.

No.2 daughter just bought herself this as her present to herself for passing her CIMA finals. 19-reg with only 19 miles on the clock. Brand new but surplus to a broker's bulk order so the Alfa dealer bought it back. Lovely little 1.4 turbo, goes like stink and has muti-mode suspension.  Sad to say our daughter's little Giulietta was written-off on Friday afternoon in Burnley. Nice lady in a Citroen SUV turned right straight into the front of her as she crossed the junction on green. Fortunately she was only doing about 30 MPH (it was a 40 MPH zone) so the only damage was to the cars. The lady's insurance co admitted liability within 24 hrs so with the settlement and her ALA GAP cover, she's trawling for a new car. Looks like she's going for one of these: 
She's found a 67-reg Stelvio Q4, one owner, FSH at the same AR dealer she bought her Giulietta from. Met black with a lovely red leather interior. |

I've always fancied a Stelvio ... I'm not sure that it is a sensible car to own but that's a different matter.

Glad daughter is OK Jim :TU: Stelvio looks good and a bit more protection being raised. Yes, I’m pushing her towards the Stelvio. She’s doing over 300 miles per week, mostly longish M-way stuff, so a diesel 4x4 will be more economical on fuel, better stability/traction in winter and nicely substantial if someone plows into her again. Certainly the VED is silly until the “luxury” add-on drops off in Yr 5 and the insurance is more than the Giulietta but overall she should come out ahead.👍 |
