I'm not so sure about the warranty issue, Bob. It's interesting that on a car of this age & mileage a dealer is voluntarily flagging up the warranty availability. It may well be worthless but on the other hand it should be looked at. Certainly it won't cover consumables but if it's included in the deal then it might cover something like re-flashing the ECU if that were needed. I know that Warranty Direct paid for the re-flash on our first RAV. It doesn't take long to read through the T&Cs. 🙂 I’m only going by Warranty companies I had to deal with my motor trade days....most would wiggled like a worm on a hook with most claims, always a get out clause for wear and tear . I don't doubt that you'll have come across some bad ones. Nevertheless there are some that deserve consideration for being honest and giving Good customer service. As I said previously we had good experience of Warranty Direct and I have a lot of time for WMS who has warranted three of our recent cars and have been really good regarding claims. In fact when our daughter's BMW needed a new engine (@ £10k+) WMS were instrumental in putting the BMW dealer back in his box when he tried to screw another £2k out of us after agreeing the claim with WMS. They recently covered the cost of a new ignition switch on the Saab with no hassle at all. I realise that not all warranty companies are this Good but praise where it's due, I reckon.👍

Is this RAV4 at the top of you budget or could you go to £2500-3000 for the right vehicle ? Did you have one in mind ?

Sorry nothing in mind but that model I have seen a few sell recently around that value. With colder weather and winter around the corner 4x4 sell like hot cakes so you may have trouble finding any 3 doors auto about 😕

Much easier to source a five door auto. Lots more room and no gearbox gremlinisers.

Agree that the 5-dr is definitely roomier but it doesn't look as cool as the 3-dr. :TU:

The age isn't the issue. The MoT history reads terrible. I would keep looking.
