Well , almost had the Eclipse Cross a year now.
My thoughts... It is a good car generally, although the car feels lighter than a well built Toyota. There's more of a hollow ride , i think the sound deadening isn't as good as Toyota. On good tarmac smooth roads it's a lovely smooth ride. On bad roads ( quite a few around here) the suspension leaves a lot to be desired. Had two interior bulbs blow so far , and Mitsubishi say they're only warranted for the first year... but I complained and they were replaced... f.o.c.
The body panels are thinner and seem to dent very easily ( got a stone chip in offside rear door ) which has caused a tiny dent 😕
I need to use the Eco mode all the time , as it is quite expensive to run otherwise. And occasionally I turn that off and give it a good thrash to work the engine etc.
So , I reckon another 2 to 3 years - enough will be enough. It will be out of warranty...

You don’t exactly sound chuffed with it Jamie.... To say bulbs or anything for that matter are only covered for one year is absurd. Car has a 3 year warranty and that’s that.

Shouldn't it be five years? Our Shogun (a 65 plate) had a five year MMC warranty. I thought all new MMCs were similar, especially the Eclipse Cross as that is a very recent model.

And then you can go on extending the warranty up to 10 years / 100,000 miles as you want. At 7 years my grey RAV was still under warranty when I sold it - and if I hadn't swapped when I did, I'd have extended the warranty again!

Think all the other Japanese brands like to aspire to the quality of a Toyota But sadly some fall short and some very short ....I guess you get what you pay for 👍🏻 Bulbs can pack up anytime, so if that’s all that failed you’ve done well 😎

Yep, in the brochure it's down as a 5 year comprehensive warranty. But , wait for it.... In brackets it says " please ask your authorised Mitsubishi dealer for more details "
The last bulb was the center middle of roof one.
That went in early August. Took it back , had it replaced and they said it's chargeable and costs more than the other bulbs.
I declined to pay for warranty reasons.
Then the car was returned to me ( I waited in the showroom ) On entering the car again , I - again spotted dirty oily fingerprints around where the work was done.
I..... was..... livid !!
So , I walked in and said.... enough is enough at the top of my voice.
That service manager was.... not happy.
Get my car roof lining cleaned.... again.
Naturally, it was cleaned.. like new again.
But... yes , 5 year comprehensive warranty or until 65k miles.
But , it's just their care for customer cars isn't there.

IMHO, Toyota is the gold standard, warranty and customer care wise. I have only had one cause to complain about their service - not bad considering that we've had about 10 Toyotas since 2001. MMC has basically good cars, it's just that they seem to be let down on relatively small things, e.g. on the Shogun, things like the reversing camera were retrofit by the UK importer and you got the impression that the work was definitely nickel and dimed. Ditto the ICE and satnav - good quality gear (Kenwood) but fitted by a pissed monkey. The DAB radio in the Shogun was a piece of junk, quite frankly. Minor issues though because basically the car was brilliant.

But I need to keep saving now , as I'll need many £££££'s to buy my sister out of this house at some point. Or move on and buy a smaller house.

From a Consumer / legal standpoint if the warranty papers “infere” your warranty is for five years then that is what you can and should be able to rely on. When I went toe to toe with the garage over that Honda Civic I learnt one heck of a lot about automotive consumer law most of what was written and/ or amended mid 2015 and was done so to make things easier for the consumer to understand. I won that contest hands down with costs and compensation but of course it was not my mind that processed or dealt with all of that information. But that said it’s not that hard to understand the parts that relate to us 👍👍

Auto bulbs are generally considered a wear item so unlikely to be covered by warranty. That being said, what type are the Eclipse interior bulbs Jamie? LED or incandescent?

I remember fairly shortly after buying my 2005 RAV4 5-Door when 11 months old, one of the end caps on the side tubes fell off. When I went to the dealer to get it replaced, they told me that accessories only had 1 year warranty and I would have to pay for a replacement! They supplied one FOC in the end when I argued that when I bought the car the tubes were already fitted and so were part of the car and covered by the 3 years warranty as far as I was concerned. So didn't pay but a bit disappointed I had to have a discussion about it

Talking of bulbs I replaced all the interior bulbs with led bulbs which I bought from a company in the U.S. About 4 or so months later one stopped working so I e-mailed the company and asked how much it would cost for a replacement? Suitable leds weren’t available in N.Z. at the time, and the U.S. company replied asking for a couple of photos to show which bulb had broken. I did that and they sent me a replacement f.o.c. and that included free airmail postage. www.precisionled.com
