So today was my first day as part of the research for a vaccine for this damn thing. I’m part of the trials which will be taking over a period of a year. Had a jab today and another one in 3 weeks from today and so on. Don’t know if I’ve had the placebo or the actual vaccine but happy to be a part of the research. The sooner life gets back to normal the better. 😊🤞🏼

I've also been participating in the UKBiobank study into the spread of anti-bodies in the community and another one at Cambridge University looking at another aspect of "heard immunity". Both invole taking small blood saamples each month and sending them in. Could maybe do with a bit of advice from Mrs Ash about the best way to get blood out of a stone, i.e. ME! It's this living in Yorkshire - It's made me very anti parting-with-anything.

Good on you too Chris Do you get any feedback? No David, that's the drawback - you never get told if you've got/had the virus. Both trials are used to derive statistics about the spread etc. UKBioBank is a very intertesting organisation based in Stockport that has collected 1.5 PetaBytes of data on masses of issues that affect the nations health. They provide data for all sorts of research. I did gleen that some bloodgroups are more susceptible than others from a report that they issued. I've been a member for best part of 20 years now and done all sorts of tests with them. A really nice crowd to deal with.

Hi Chris I believe I was in the first batch today so you may be called up soon. I was told I was one of the first people to sign up so that was good to hear. I think they’re still short of volunteers and still looking for more. I hope it works out for the better and we can get back to normal and put this thing in the past. By the way this Yorkshire living does make you anti-parting 😊😊😊

Went back for my follow up and second jab yesterday. Apparently loads of people have dropped out of the trials. Not sure why but you do have the right to withdraw at any time. Anyway no side effects or anything abnormal so far seems to be going well. No more jabs just a blood test in a fortnight and then every 3 months.

Good news today, the vaccine program in on has been successful and could be rolled out soon. We were told on Tuesday so it’s fantastic news I hope it’s given approval soon

We were told on Tuesday so it’s fantastic news I hope it’s given approval soon Presumably that was the Novavax trial? Have they yet told you whether you had the vaccine or the placebo? And, if the latter, do you now get the vaccine? Both the wife and I signed up for the Novavax trial but weren't called upon - they had more than enough volunteers already ...

Yes the Novavax, As of yet they’ve not told us but once it’s been approved they will tell us. Those that had the placebo will be given the opportunity to be vaccinated first alongside the most vulnerable or they can wait till the end of the rollout. If I’m on the placebo I’ll just wait my turn in the queue as I’d rather let the most vulnerable have the opportunity first. I’m glad I was chosen and if it’s a success it’s nice to have been a part of the trial. Oh I forgot to mention we will still continue to be monitored for another year if you were vaccinated with the real thing just to gather data.

We’ve had our first jabs today. We are lucky in so much as our local rural GP practice doesent have massive numbers of patients. So they rattled through the over 70s and high risk groups in an amazingly short time .. Now they are doing the 60 plus group.
One thing that pi$$es me of is the press and media never focus on how well some areas are doing they only focus on the bad stuff.... We are very great-full to those who are not only working so very hard but doing it so cheerfully.... 👍👍👍👍
