Not sure it’s a dealer as I only have a mobile number and I’ve been exchanging text and receiving extra photo’s of the vehicle, he says he can delivery but it has all the hallmarks of a risky transaction .

In that case, yes, it would pay to be cautious. I have bought 2 of our 3-drs remotely and had them delivered but they were both from reputable dealers (one was Jemca in Herts and the other was a private dealer who sourced all his cars from Jemca) and on the basis that if I wasn't happy that they had been properly described, I could reject them. Certainly no money was transacted until they were delivered and inspected.
He has got 100% rating which says something. I see that he is in Devon; is it possible to go and see the car? It could be a good buy at the right price and as Jase has said, it is a lovely colour combo.

Nice wheels but six owners, 99K and obviously been used for towing and carrying children. MOT history indicates careless/unobservant owners at some point in it's life. Where's the photo of the 'slight scuff' on the bodywork?
EDIT - and ends missing from side tube.

Don’t think the headlamps would come up with a sand and polish 🙁 These cars are good for the mileage if they’ve been looked after but without it being closer I can’t inspect ....I’ll let it go as he wants COD .

Think I need a reality check ! Have been making enquiries about a few 3 door RAV4’s and although the dealers big them up in their adverts, once I ask for more details photo’s the truth become apparent 🤔 The RAV4 by design was a utility vehicle and as such was used for such a job, should I expect to find a 16 year old + example that has no bumps and scrapes around the bodywork , or should I see it as a project and will need bodywork ? Last vehicle i enquired about was up for 5k ...sensible mileage and looked tidy in the photo’s, on closer inspection , rear 1/4 bumper creased , flared are pulled away, front arch as long scuff etc I know the automatic commands top money but the dealer seem to want the money without doing any of the work . Yes I know I’m fussy ..I guess other buys might just except it’s wear and tear on an old vehicle . To get a really clean 3 door I bet will cost a lot more than a Lexus convertible....... Know which I’d rather have 👍👍

Don’t really need a car at all but wanted something inexpensive to play around with, clearly the 3 door auto’s are turning out not to be cheap 🙁🙁

I guess that the prices aren't likely to come down so IMVHO, you might be as well to concentrate your search on well regarded dealers rather than eBay sellers and be prepared to wait until the right one comes along. None of our 3-drs was cheap. We paid "over the odds" for each of them but, on the upside, none of them cost us anything other than routine servicing and consumables. The current one was the most expensive - £8K finally with all the usual fixes and full service included. Pricey? Yes, but it has cost us nothing since and bearing in mind that it was one owner with a genuine Toyota FSH I reckon it was worth it. You will find one, Bob, just be patient and then haggle. 😉

Sold the Lexus as I don’t need a car for shows for the next 6 months to a year. We are thinking of getting shot of another vehicle in the household and the 3 door rav4 is one the wife still likes, did show her the Suzuki Grand Vatara but not sure I could like with the build quality 😳

She also likes the 3-Dr Shogun so we had the Barbarian version of that for a while but the unbelievably astronomical service costs put paid to that. So now Saabs and RAV4s live on our drive; I think the ones we have now are keepers - for a while at least!
