Hi,
last week I left my 200,000km 03 RAV4 at a small sales yard and came home with a 100,000km 07 RAV4; on Friday I was on my way back to drop off some things when I received a call:
Me: "hello? Who is this?".
Guy: "Hi, were you the owner of the 2003 RAV4?.... you sold it last week".
Me: "Yes, that´s right" , what can I do for you?
Guy: "I´m sitting in the car at the sales yard and need to know if you think it´s an ok car".
Me: "I think it´s an ok car for the right price, it depends on what you expect for the price" (I didn´t know what price it was being sold for).
Guy: "We just want it for up at our cabin in north Norway, we fly up to the cabin and will use it for local driving and things like towing a trailer sometimes".
Me: "That would be perfect, as a matter of fact I´m on the way to you right now with some things for the car, I´ll be there in about 15 minutes!".
I arrived to find my old car polished up a treat, the guy walking around it and the seller with a smile but looking a little nervous
I shook hands with both and handed over the rear baggage area cover, a spare key, the DEFA engine warmer/battery charger book and some receipts.
The buyer asked if there was anything he should know, I told him that the A/C has not worked for around five years and that the engine will stop if you accelerate really quickly, but never if you drive it just normally (the sensor problem that was never sorted). I said that it would be a great local area car for his Hytta (cabin). I also told him that I replaced the left rear hub assembly two years ago and have the another new unit in my garage if he wants it....
He said that he would buy the car and will pick up the hub assembly next week.......
I don´t know what the car sold for but I´m happy that my old RAV4 has a new life and will be living in the countryside and only used during the holidays instead of being scrapped because it was a bit old and worn.........
