Was watching a dealer principal last night discussing how he reckoned the car market will stay quite strong initially as people come out of lockdown but then fall and quickly!!
Any thoughts??
I see the number of PCP/HP deals on 0% is rising daily, Toyota will now do you a new Supra on 0%, but have prices dipped yet, i'm not sure. Bet trade-ins are getting a battering though.
I'll be honest I do find the Yaris a bit small so am keeping an eye out, maybe a Corolla, but only if its an offer that just can't be refused.

The economy is in a massive dip, yet we cannot open the showrooms in Wales......you can queue for a mile to get in B&Q no problem, Covid must not be in B&Q grrrr
We still don't have all the staff back, they are being brought back slowly so we get to grips with social distancing etc. The workshops are really busy and enquiries for new cars are buoyant, so things look reasonable at the moment. Like everything, deals will be available, but it will be supply and demand as always that sets the deals. In business cash flow is essential, so I expect there will be some really strong offers to get things going
I have a Corolla Hybrid, it is the best Toyota I have driven for a long time, great car doing 74 MPG in the warmer weather

As I was told a few weeks back by a dealer mate the money is going to be placed on cars from two years old and older... New car sales are going to get hit extremely hard. It was said exactly the same on Central news last night.

I will personally do you interest free on any car on the planet. Course I will charge you a massive price for the car. There’s no such thing as a free meal .

Well, my work colleague took up a Drive the Deal offer this week.
Volvo S60 T5 R Design Auto. Pre-Reg (from Jan, so 6 months old) List £38k, purchased for £23,495.
Seemed like a no-brainer to me.

TBH I was thinking about one for myself, the Yaris is a bit small tbh.
However, my aunt mentioned last week she may be looking to move on her 17 plate Avensis. So hedging my bets for now.

Err, you can get astonishing discounts on new cars with a deposit allowance that more than pays any interest. Honestly.

One of my pals has just had an 85,000 discount on his new car..... Very nice car, but last time i was in the UK i was pushed to find a clear enough road to exploit the performance of the Fiat 500 hirecar, so what is the point?

Very nice car, but last time i was in the UK i was pushed to find a clear enough road to exploit the performance of the Fiat 500 hirecar, so what is the point? The roads in the Teme Valley where we live are quiet twisty with the odd straight thrown in and very very hilly. So exploiting a car like that right up to the speed limits is a true joy. We live less than one mile from the hill climb at Shelsley Walsh and as track martials as a few of us are we get many opportunities to run the hill. Apart from which when you have the coin this fella has why not ? His fleet of cars including another V12 Aston is incredible. No pockets in a shroud my friend 👍👍👍👍👍

OK maybe under this current situation dealers may trade at a loss to trade out of this dreadful time. So now maybe the time to buy if your in the market... But it doesent matter to me how folk buy their cars all I can say is finance is and never will be for me.

Something bothers me just slightly......
Those of us in business when the financial crash hit in 2008 should remember the wolf syndrome. Especially those in construction like myself and indeed you Clarki....
The wolf syndrome was where everyone suddenly thought everything was for nothing.
Ahh I know we'll nail this or that contractor to the floor cas hes desperate for the work.
At that time I employed quite a few men. But it was clear I could not continue paying top wages to top men. The wolves wouldn’t allow that....
So it was in effect the end of me working on or at that scale. Laying off great guys who I looked on as friends was heartbreaking but there Was zero choice.
We all like a bargain no one more than me...... But I truly and sincerely hope the wolf syndrome is less hurtful than last time around.
Just how I see it that’s all..... 👍👍
