Decided during the current situation I will get a refund on the balance of my Lexus road tax , all the shows are cancelled this year and we are halfway through our 12 weeks isolation, so seems to make sense to get a few months tax back or longer if thing don’t look any better. Insurance is due in a months time but would be seen as foolish not to keep it covered just in case . Possible scenario..... If the car was left uninsured on my drive and someone drove/ reversed into it, take it I’ll have to deal with the other insurance company myself ?

My MX5 hasn’t been on the road since the end of last summer. It’s been on SORN since then but I’ve kept it insured. Still haven’t taken it for its MOT yet but that’s because of the current situation.

Checked on the DVLA website this morning to see if the SORN shows up ..which it does but also my mot has now has a 6 month extension, so that’s one less thing to worry about 👍🏻👍🏻

Got a surprise in the post , the DVLA website says 4-6 weeks to receive a tax refund and I cheque for £198.00 in my hand....next problem we are in total isolation so can’t take it to the bank 🤔...plan B get a neighbour to post it back 👍🏻

Online banking? Some of the banks' smart phone apps allow you to pay in cheques by photographing the front and back. Has worked for me.

Only thing I found was that I needed to use my iPad rather than my mobile. It saves me a lot of hassle though! I only get a cheque from one elderly relative (who has not embraced the internet) unfortunately. The money seems to flow out of my account for everyone else!

Not offered by my bank only as a business user 😟 not a deal breaker as I’ve not put a cheque in for over 6 months .
