The RAC are offering 50% off breakdown cover for personal cover. My Honda cover runs out in a few days when the car is 3 years old so I will need to buy some breakdown cover. I will probably buy the £75 option which should provide enough help and peace of mind. The offer is time limited so I will probably pay up tomorrow!
I thought I would share in case anyone else was in a similar position.
Mind you I probably won't use the car for several weeks but I need to have cover just in case. For instance the battery may fail as others have considered on another post.

David, have you checked with Honda to see what they can offer?

My daughter's car has the Toyota Breakdown cover which comes with the extended warranty. I know it's actually the AA, so I do hope if she uses it, they will respond !! My other cars are covered directly with the AA.

Sorry to hear about your troubles Charlie, but to come back to the original post, if anyone wants a no frills breakdown, Autoaid is one to investigate, been with them for quite a while, used them a couple of times recovered MR2 Turbo when a gearbox oil seal went & recovered when daughters wishbone snapped, it has jumped in price the last 2 years but at £59 I think it's still good value.

I have moved the posts about the Civic to a new thread as it took the original post of topic from the RAC Offer that was mentioned. The ones that were about breakdown cover policies I have left here
I saw the adverts for the RAC and looked interesting. I have been looking at options for my own circumstances in the last couple of days and the following has been suggested to me, which sounds like a good value option - www.autoaidbreakdown.co.uk/ (not for me though, as key limitation as noted below). In the end I have just opened a new bank account (Nationwide FlexPlus) which offers comprehensive Breakdown Cover, as well as Mobile Phone insurance and Travel Insurance. I couldn't go with the one above or standard breakdown cover options as need to cover a motorhome over 3.5t, and that weight limit is a no-no for most policies. The Nationwide account one covers motorhomes upto 7.5t and is actually cheaper per annum than the RAC policy that covers heavy vans (plus it has the extra features).

I have the same with Nationwide. 👍
