Interesting to see that both the door locky bits on Dave’s new car, last photo on left of door opening, are as discoloured with surface rust as wife’s was. Took them off and sprayed with that American paint, Aloominim.......looks SO much betterer.
Last £50.00 you want to spend, unless ALL driving done in daylight, is get them bliddy useless lightbulbs changed to Osram Nightbreaker LASER........the difference is worth much more than the cash outlay. Also change wee sidelights to LED......much nicer and double up as virtual DRL’s.
If doing, check in with me for wee nods I learned on here and from vast intelligence I possess naturally.......and sore hands from doing it......!

Cheers Kev. I can change the headlights, the LED's may be a bit too technical.

A quick update guys and some advice please? Well I've had the car a couple of months now and have driven about 400 miles and the top and bottom of it is....I don't like driving manual cars. Having driven an auto for over 20 years, I just hate going up and down the gears, it's got to go. Obviously when all this crap is over with, I'm going to sell it privately, but I'm going to buy from a Toyota dealer about a mile from me and I'm thinking about this car, what do you think-is the mileage a problem? I really would appreciate your honest, candid thoughts and advice. johnsonsliverpool.usedcars.toyota.co.uk/en/used-toyota/Toyota/Rav4-Estate/25-VVT-i-Hybrid-Excel-5dr-CVT-n5cakgrSorry guys. 🙄

Have a look on Auto trader. Quite a few 16/66 regs at similar money but much lower miles. Some Toyota, some not.👍

While it most certainly is a 'high' mileage for a four year old car, the price looks 'reasonable' for a Toyota Approved Used car purchased from a Toyota dealer - obviously you could buy more cheaply elsewhere. From what you have said, it doesn't sound as though you are expecting to do a particularly high annual mileage - so the fact that the previous owner did isn't necessarily an important issue. At only four years old it will still be under Toyota UK Warranty - it'll have a year left of the initial 5 year, 100,000 mile warranty. At 91,000 miles on the odometer you'd have 9,000 miles or the original warranty left. You can then take out Toyota Extended Warranty to keep the car covered until it is twelve years old - provided that you do so before the 5 years / 100,000 miles is up. The current extended warranty deal is that you get two years for the price of one and coverage for up to 30,000 miles within that period which sound as though it would more than cover your needs. The warranty includes breakdown cover and MoT fees. So, if you want to pay that much for a high mileage, four year old car you can easily justify it as a 'prudent' choice!

Steven Eagell has a 17-reg Icon 4WD auto with 48.5K miles ate £16.5K. Snows has a 66-reg Excel 4WD auto with 40.5K miles at £16.5K. Motorline Toyota have a 66-reg Excel auto with 38.4K miles at £16.7K. Considerably lower mileages than the one suggested. These will all have the balance of their factory warranty. Obviously you wil need to look in detail at the spec of each but I think it shows that there's lots of choice out there other than your local dealer and I don't know how each would do in negotiating a discount seeing as you will be a cash buyer. Bear in mind also that nobody knows how the market will be after this COVID thing is "over"(?). Alot of press is of the opinion that there will be an awful lot of deals available especially on ex-PCP cars that have been surrendered by folk who can no longer afford the monthly payments or simply don't need them anymore. I'm sure that you will find a good deal if you take your time and look around. Dealers aren't going to be swamped with customers, I reckon.

OK, yes, but ... the car that filsgreen linked to is an Excel Hybrid - if that's the model he wants he won't find much cheaper / better right now (things may change). Those you refer to are straight petrol (I think) and if he wants cheaper / better value he could always look at a diesel ...

I still think that things might get more interesting in another month or so. 😉

Thanks for your thoughts and advice guys. To be honest, I'm not bothered about the spec, it just had to be a 4wd auto Rav4 hybrid. I'm going with a hybrid, as I still love driving my old Yaris hybrid. The 25mpg I'm getting from my one isn't so great and I'm leaving diesels alone.
I'm thinking of buying off the local dealer, as I don't want to be driving miles if I have any problem with the car. I know I'm going to pay a premium for that, but some of the cost maybe offset, post corona virus. 🤞
You are right about the mileage, in regard to my limited driving, after a few years it would probably balance out. Now I just have to wait a couple of months until the lock down is lifted.
Thanks again.
Phil

Phil Although the dealer is shut can you email them and possibly reserve the car ?, if the salesmen are working from home you might be able to pay a small deposit. That and you could at some point have a walk around the car if it’s on their forcourt .
